Description

Front & Rear Cross Members extend over the ends of the van for protection when loading ladders and other long materials. Cross Members are constructed of 13-gauge, 11/4" x 11/4" square steel tubing and spread the load evenly to protect long, fragile materials. Stainless Steel Mounting Brackets are extra wide for superior attachment strength to the gutter. Air Foil eliminates wind noise and mounts to the front of the cross member. Velcro straps assist in securing your ladder for transport. Anti-wear protection on cross members helps protect ladders and building materials during transport.

  • Be patient and wear sunblock because you’re going to be in the sun for a while.
We bought this rack for a camper van we’re building. It’ll have a RoofNest tent on the top and redwood decking when it’s complete. We went with this rack because of the 1,000lb load capacity and the price was right too. Putting it together and getting it on the roof was quite the experience and took three people to get it up there. We used two thick moving blankets to slide it over the length of the roof. We also extended the width of the rack as far out as we could when we slid it over the roof. Once it was up there it took a lot of sliding the mounting brackets around to find the center of the curve in the Ford van gutters and compressing the load bars together. A few of the bars weren’t 100% straight and caused some binding but a small come-along strap to get them to compress worked well. Be patient with the center mounting brackets they will come down to the rain gutter once they’re in the right spot. Also be sure to use all three bolts at once per mounting bracket and tighten each one a little at a time and keep the two haves of the rack loose enough to give flex and make them the last ones you tighten all the way down when you are done. The thin airfoil works very well and cuts the wind noise out completely. The powder coat is surprisingly very thick and strong. A few times I rolled the rack over on my driveway and also dropped a few wrenches on the finish and you couldn’t even tell. Now that it’s all tightened down it feels very solid to me and I walked around on it too stepping from one crossbar to the next. I drove over a lot of bumpy roads and went over quite a few speed bumps and didn’t hear a noise from the rack. I’m sure things will loosen up over the next few weeks and have to be retightened but that’s to be expected. ... show more
