I have been ordering these for several years. This year it was a total DUD. The growth rate was good, but it was quite short. The flowers bloomed quickly and died just as quickly. I would NOT order this again.

I am beyond sad. I ordered 6 of these. When I received them I packaged them and gave away all but one to friends for Christmas. They all started to foam and excret a sticky brown substance. One of the friends that I gifted one to helped me try to figure out why they are all foaming etc. What we found out is all of the bulbs are rotten. Each of the wax on the bulbs were cracked. UPS delivered these and I got them immediately upon delivery. The box was a mess, the wax was cracked but I handed them out anyway because I've never grown these. Now I find out each one of them are rotten. I can't replace them because they were given as gifts. I paid $120 for 6 rotten bulbs. ... show more

I bought this waxed amaryllis late last January and am about to buy one again. The past few years, I've bought several of these from Trader Joe's for half the price of this one early every December and they have many gorgeous blood red blooms during the Christmas holidays (and yes, two made great gifts). But they're only available there for 2-3 weeks. So wanting another one, I ordered this one from Amazon, and waited for it to bloom. And waited. And waited. I finally decided after 7-8 weeks that it was a dud, but then a week later several buds appeared. And then, about 2 1/2 months after ordering it, I had five gorgeous blooms....and more a few months later. Don't believe the info you read that tells you waxed amaryllis only bloom once. I got all of mine to bloom again a few months later. Just cut the stems way down, at an angle, and keep them on the window sill in the light. ... show more

If you still have someone to buy a Christmas gift for—or if you want to give yourself something special—may I suggest this waxed amaryllis? I purchased one on 11/10/25 and it started really growing immediately and is now close to displaying its first bloom. No watering or planting until spring/summer so it’s foolproof!!! Save the plant care card for how to plant it in a pot or outdoors when the weather warms up. It’s really amazing how it grows in that wax sleeve with nothing else.
