I am a professor of computer networks for over forty years. I am pretty impressed with this product. I waited long enough to evaluate this product very well. When the weather conditions just perfect this can have a range of 250 feet. Realistically, 100 to 150' range. I needed signals to reach about 300 feet, thus I purchased a repeater. I have installed many routers. This is one of the easiest one to set up. I gave it 4 stars because of the limited range. This has been an excellent product. First I configured it wirelessly using my computer. I set it up to work in repeater mode. I then installed it inside the upper portion of my barn against a wall. I know it is made for outside use, but figured why not protect it, and I wanted to keep the aesthetics of the barn as they were. The barn is 165 feet from the wifi router it connects to. I now have wifi in the 2000 sq ft barn, and I connect my Blink cameras to it, so I can monitor my chickens and turkeys, and make sure they have what they need when I am not there. Additionally I can connect to wifi on my phone, iPad, or laptop, should I need to. I have been wanting to get wifi into the barn for years, and have considered many ways of accomplishing this, but this product was pretty much plug and play. I highly recommend. ... show more

[This is the initial impression after installation.] The POE adapter and power adapter is not waterproof/weatherproof. It has exposed ports that over time water will incur. I will need to figure out how to weatherproof the power and POE adapter.

I will update this if I get it to work. I hooked it up and got power to it but no wifi. I tried resetting it, but that did not work. I gave up after a couple of hours. Next day - left it plugged up overnight, for some reason when I checked it today, the wifi was working. Don't have a clue why. I connected to it without issue. Made changes to the setup and rebooted with no issued. Unplugged it and mounted it on side of building and it worked when I plugged it back in. I can't answer why it did not work on the first day. If it worked right away when I plugged it in, I would have given it 5 stars, but the delay in it working gives me a concern for future issues. We'll see. ... show more

First off could not get it set up with the ethernet cable it came with, wouldn't even get power. Tried a new cable and no issues. Is kinda a hassle to set up. Worked for a few months grea, easily got 100' of signal. Then the poe it came with shorted out. Contacted wavlink about it and sent pictures of a literally melted poe and got no response back at all. Tried to buy a new poe and could not get it to connect again. 2 stars for faulty equipment and bad customer service. Will be looking into buying something else just not from them. Would of given 1 star but it did work well when it was working. Edit*- after the review customer service reached out to me told me which replacement POE would work and had me order it and after confirming the unit worked with the new Poe they would refund me the cost of the new poe. Edit to 4 stars for good customer service. Look forward to using the wifi extender again. ... show more

I don’t understand the reviews saying it’s hard to hook up. I’m not technical at all and with the step by step instructions mine connected in minutes after I installed it. I set it up as a repeater, now the solar powered cameras I have work great
