Rains produces great quality items. I have a backpack from them that I use for commuting in the PNW where it gets very wet for over half of the year and when I saw this coat I was very excited to try it. It's the same great quality I've experienced from them and it does keep me very dry. It's a thicker material so it also keeps me pretty warm when paired with a sweater and I don't need to add multiple layers. That said, I think it fits a little weird. I am curvier and I know this is a unisex jacket so obviously it's not going to be completely fitted to women, but if you are curvier, know that it's not going to look super flattering on you. But if your intention is to stay dry and you don't care what you look like, you can't go wrong with this.

This isn't a cheap feeling raincoat/jacket. It is thoughtfully and well-made. Pic #1 is the waist cinch cords, there some heft there without being heavy. Pic #2 is the bottom zipper of the hidden zipper, and the nice zipper pull. With these types of zippers, where the material is adhered to the zipper, the zippers often have trouble gliding through.. not on this jacket! The zipper is easy up, and easy down. The sizing for a man appears to be true to size. One thing about this jacket that I dont see on others, the pockets, you have to go in at a bit of an angle because the pocket seam faces the opposite of most pockets, this isn't a con, it's a pro, it keeps things from falling out of your pockets, cool feature! The hood fits great and also has a cinch cord. Great rain jacket!

This is my second time trying a Rains as my primary raincoat what I love about the Storm Breaker Raincoat is that instead of buttons that pop off it's actually a zipper. There is an option to tighten the sinched waist area if you choose so, this will prevent additional water from dripping in or giving your a snatched look. Along with the tighten waist there is one also for your hood which can minimize the area where water can get you soaked depending on the type of rain you're having. The jacket is waterproof and the rain just glides down the length of your coat. The jacket is breathable and I love how you actually have functional pockets as well. Overall the coat is very durable as well and it's a great for everyday casual wear as well.

The quality of this jacket is immediately evident. The material is rubbery, with just a bit of give. Water rolls right off of it. The double-elastic cinch at the wrists, the substantial drawstring cinches at the hood and waist - all quality. Maybe slightly oversized, let's call it "ample". I am 5'10", 170, 42" chest and the Medium was still plenty roomy, even over a pull-over hoodie. Pockets are deep and with quality zipper closures. Recommended!

The Storm Breaker rain jacket by Rains is made in PRC (china). The rain coat is made from a 100% polyester base with a polyurethane coating. The outer shell of the jacket out of the bag sheds water. There is some venting, but you get more from a North Face or Marmot jacket in the same price range. I did not find any problems with the fabric, but the stitching and seam welding have some spots that quality control should have caught. The pockets are not well supported, so I will not be using them for anything of weight. The pockets are not protected by an inner layer, and are fully exposed inside the jacket. The zipper seems well made and functions well when wet. I also appreciate the drawstring at the bottom of the jacket. There are better jackets for the price, but this does keep you dry while sweating underneath. 4 stars (barely)

This is a nice lightweight raincoat. It does have a smell when you get it out of the package, so be sure to air it out a bit before wearing it. The fabric is matte, but slick, so rain or water will likely glide right off of it. The lining inside is light, which is great for warm rainy days as not much insulation is needed in that case. The seams are clean and free of unclipped threads, and they seem to be strongly constructed. The zipper is nice as well, it doesn't get stuck easily. The jacket zips up to the chin, which will be helpful with breaking strong breezes. The length is nice and long so it covers the rear if you need to sit anywhere that is wet and don't want to soak your pants. It is also unisex, so it looks great on both men and women.

I am a bit of a "clothes horse" and I love this rain jacket. Wonderful "rubberized feeling" outward facing fabric is strongly water repellant yet very stylish and pleasing to touch. Inner fabric (feels like nylon) is ideal for this application. Zippers of high quality and first rate. It is hooded which will come in handy during very heavy downpours. I not only like the way this jacket feels when I am wearing it, I also like the way it looks. I got two unsolicited compliments about this jacket the very first day I wore it. It is very, very dark navy (almost indistinguisable from black) which I also like. This item exceeded my expectations.
