Bag was perfect size for my vehicle even if it was a little too big for all my luggage. I drive a Nissan Sandra sedan and the bag had a little bit of drag but it did not affect my mpg severely. I recommend using the slip mat when driving and make sure the roof is clean. Any dirt or dust will cause the mat to fall out; mine did after the first 3-400 miles. Me and my family took a trip to Washington from Southern California 3200 miles total and the bag was exceptional. I was worried about weather proofing seeing all the other bags on Amazon having an issue but even going through snow and rain for 7 days the bag keep my stuff dry albeit cold haha. It took a minute to figure out how to hook it to the car without rails but it goes under the black molding in the door frame NOT THE WINDOW in case anyone also makes that mistake the first time they put the bag on. It might take some prying but that molding does pop on and off. Ensure that all the straps are secured and tight. The bag has 3 sets of straps to hook to the car and two sets front and back of ths bag to tighten the bag. I recommend filling the bag as evenly as possible and as much as possible because it'll probably save the bag. After my trip, the bag itself was in good shape however the strap sleeve holding the strap to the bag became frayed. I am certain its because I did not have the slip mat to stop it from being pulled by the wind when I drove. If it hadn't torn I would've kept it. My assessment of it is that it is defintely a solid travel bag. Weathering is good, size was perfect, set up was easy after figuring out how to clip it to the car. The only downside I had was the weight of the bag once full. If you can attach it to the car first and then zip it up unless you got two strong folk to lob it onto the car. If you're worried about trying to find a decent travel bag for long trips I recommend this bag. Make sure the slip mat is used and check the bag every now and again during the travel to make sure there are no tears but like I said it shouldnt be a problem with the slip mat. ... show more

This cargo bag was roomy, easy to strap down, and held up for a 12 hour drive to our destination, and back home. The mat kept it in place perfectly. We didn’t have any heavy rain, but what we did get, our luggage stayed dry. We packed 3 large suitcases, 2 duffle bags, 3 pillows, and still had room to pack our souvenirs on our way back home. Traveled over 3,700 miles! With every weather predicament and every terrain possible! Started in Wisconsin, then through 4 States and eventually the tip of Texas in a desert city. We had Rain, serve winds, sleet,snow, freezing rain, desert dust and Texas bugs! Trust this review, I personal looked through every cargo bag possible on Amazon. And made my final decision on this one based off of customer who drove a Toyota 4 runner! Never had any leak problems, water damage, tears or holes. I saw some reviews with tears on the bag, but that must have been debris or a rock that hit the bag? But I'm sure any bag would suffer damage in that scenario. Me personally im glad with the purchase, it was totally worth it! I heard NO wind noise, BUT I do have a roof rack and a Cargo cage with a wind fairing to minimize wind noise. As long as you tighten. Your straps down and load the bag correctly! Even with natural wear and tear, I would trust this bag again when the time comes to replace! Give it a try! ... show more

We bought this for a trip from St. Louis to Florida. It is quite large and holds a lot. We use it for all of our soft duffles and clothes to have more room inside the car. One mistake we made was not putting the padded liner underneath- it was noisy because we neglected to do that, so definitely use it. You have to fold it a little smaller than the footprint of the bag so it does not fly out. Like anything on the roof of the car, it was a bit challenging loading it, but once it was loaded and tied down, it was good to go. I haven't had the chance to use it yet. The material seems well made and it is a decent sized luggage bag. It has a really nice storing bag that zips up. I plan to take a trip in a week for 6 hours will write another review once it's been used.
