I make an urn of coffee a day at work in honor of a coworker who died from drinking too much because another coworker hated coffee. This urn makes excellent coffee. I just wish there was a paper filter I could use with it. I grind my own beans daily and it would be awesome had their been a paper filter as I like an expresso grind but that just filters through the metal filter holes. Electrical/chemical smell with second use. Not sure if we got a lemon. The urn is very attractive and sturdy. It is quite tall which makes it easy to get a cup under the spigot, but difficult to fill in the sink. I gave it one star because it malfunctioned after the second use. This unit has been used in a food trailer with continuous 10 hour shifts with out any problems. Heating cold water and brewing hot coffee quickly with out stopping over a 10 hour a shift period under high demand is not a problem. We got this for church events and it works well. Likable features: large capacity, slot and retainer underneath to store the electric cord, top locks on, separate ready light and power on light. The handles are big enough to get a firm grip to move in. The amount of grounds to use for any given number of cups of coffee is etched into the side of the basket which means we will still have the recipe when the user manual will eventually get lost. Warning: a full 120 cups took about 80 minutes, 70 cups about an hour. I think this is pretty typical of large urns. ... show more

This makes fine coffee. Although I’m not sure it brewed as fast as the description says it should. But, I am returning. After using it twice, I received soooooo many complaints about how difficult it is to get coffee out of. Unless I manhandled it, the coffee just barely dribbles out.
