Go into this replacement knowing that this is not an exact replacement to the Apple remote. No voice feature, no swiping/sliding, BUT it has everything else! We've got volume up and down, we've got mute, we've got an easy turn off for the TV and the Apple TV, we've got easy navigation with up, down, left, right, and enter. We previously got a remote with just a few buttons and didn't realize we were not getting full functionality. This remote is not a 1:1 replacement for the Apple TV remote. To do that you'd have to shell out $70 for a new Apple TV remote 😜 But this is a great price of about $15 and does all the essential tasks. So happy we have this economically friendly option that's *almost* as good as the original. Also there was almost no setup, it just worked. Makes me wonder if someone could just buy a remote and mess with me from out our window but for my purposes of not messing with others, this works wonders.

No programming needed for my Samsung/Apple TV. My old Apple Remote’s volume button stopped working so I bought this. Works great. Love the silicone cover. My only complaint is that the buttons are hard to read with the cover on. If you know what buttons so what without looking then it’s not a problem. Also I wish the sleeve glowed a bit more. It has to be left in the sun rather than under a light to glow. All in all tho- I’d buy again and def recommend

It’s a bummer that Apple doesn’t let AppleTV owners pair previously model remotes with the device, but I also realize there’s probably some technical reason why we can’t that I’m not aware of. At any rate, such is life with the AppleTV and after trying out a few different after-market remotes, this is definitely the one I like best. It’s easy to set up and get working with the AppleTV, and it’s only a little bigger than the AppleTV’s native remote. The biggest drawback to this remote is that it doesn’t have volume controls, and it’s not clear to me why that is. After all, this is an IR remote, and I can “train” other IR remotes to control the AppleTV volume, so why doesn’t this one have a couple more buttons for volume Up/Down that we can train to control the volume like other IR remotes? But otherwise, this remote works well and is reasonably priced.

I somehow managed to accidentally throw out my original Apple TV changer months ago. They’re priced so high, I refused to get another one so have just been trying to use my phone, but that’s a nightmare because it the connectivity randomly goes in and out. My parents also can’t figure it out when they come to visit, so it leads to constant arguments. I finally decided to bite the bullet and was going to order the Apple version when I stumbled upon this option. It seemed iffy, but I decided to try it because of the price difference. It worked perfectly! Right off the bat! I still can’t believe it. I also - very easily - managed to get it to connect to my TV. For the first time in a long time, I have one changer for two needs. It’s absolutely worth it.

Worked well for 9 months then nav buttons became very intermittent. Easy to use and for the price it is a good value. Just wish it had kept working well. I got this so my wife as she hated the apple remote. But with the navigation buttons not work all the time now she's not happy again.

I bought this because I can't get the AppleTV remote to scroll properly when watching a program. This remote has a wheel that when I 'press' it, it advances forward or back a few seconds for easy control. Only dislike I had is that it takes batteries and not rechargeable. It would also perform functions on my Mac while watching TV but that was an easy fix of putting black tape over the Mac's bluetooth sensor.
