Controller feels very sturdy and well made. The back buttons which used to be paddles feel very nice and clicky unlike the prestige paddles which felt like they would break easily, which they did. I also was concerned with the placement of the back buttons feeling awkward and not in a natural spot where my fingers lay but it's perfect. Trigger adjustment can be made where's it's literally like a mouse click but I prefer not to use it like that because it just doesn't feel right to me. Nothing wrong with how they work, just my personal preference. The grip material feels great. The only negative thing I can say so far is I have a rechargeable battery pack I use for my regular Xbox controller that doesn't fit this controller. The back plate layout is not compatible. I'm going to be using a wired connection anyways but for someone who wants to use it wireless, you're going to need batteries, which it does come with. Mapping the back buttons couldn't be more easier. I'll be using this pretty heavy on warzone so it's going to get abused. I'll come back after a month or so and write if I encounter any issues. Very happy with it so far. UPDATE: The smaller back buttons are hard to use. The direction you have to push them at an angle. I also feel the D pad moving like it wants to shift when I press it sometimes, but never pops off. Other than that it's great. I'll come back and update if the controller malfunctions.

I've had one in steel gray for three years and have only had minor problems. Very occasionally, one of the rear paddles might get stuck in an input loop, which is easily fixed by pressing all of the back paddles a few times to fix the issue. No stick drift after three years of hard use. As long as you don't drop it or abuse it then you can expect it to last for quite a while. I prefer setting the triggers to the click setting rather than the mushy stock trigger feel. For the back paddles, I just prefer to set the d pad to them so that I don't need to take my left thumb off the thumbstick to use it. I purchased it when it was more expensive, in the $230 range and I'm very happy with the purchase. Shop around, because it can be found for far cheaper if you check the right storefront.

The title says it all, pls read. I was someone who came from the Power Fusion Series but wanted some back buttons instead of the paddles (because they tire out and don’t register after a while) so I did some research. Checked out all different custom controller options and settled on the Scuf because it had the qualities I was looking for and the same day arrival was the last nail in the coffin. I was disappointed in the fact that the rear buttons aren’t blank when you re-map them and switch with whatever button you’re remapping with it because they’re pre programmed A,Y,X,B starting with the farthest left “paddle” over to the right. So if I wanted to change my car left paddle to “B” for instance, since that paddle is pre programmed to the “A” button, my actual “B” button acts like the A button. The feel of the controller, fantastic! The paddles were located In The perfect spot. Although the top paddles are super sensitive so and I experienced a lot of accidental bumps being that the bottom paddles require more pressure since you’re using the pad of your finger and not the sides of them like on the top ones (makes sense). D-pad is super plastic and cheap feeling. Mouse clicks were great. NOW THE REAL PROBLEM. THE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY IS GARBAGE. This controller s you may have noticed is far from cheap, and with something this expensive that I use daily and Ik I will get my moneys worth, I’m getting the warranty and thank goodness I did because I had this delivered nov. 4th and by the 14th it’s ALREADY BROKEN. $250 and The back paddle button just decided to come off mid use AFTER 11 DAYS. I made it 2 years with my power fusion at a fraction of the cost. My advice? Get a power fusion for the same price and a standard controller with a 5.99 2 year warranty.

The Scuf Instinct Pro is one of those controllers that reminds you how personal gaming hardware can be, since every player brings their own habits, intensity and game preferences to the table. Judged on its original late 2021 merits, this is a well built and feature rich controller that stood shoulder to shoulder with other premium options of its era. The remappable rear paddles, magnetic faceplate, on board profile switching and swappable thumbsticks all contribute to a flexible setup that feels immediately familiar to anyone used to first party Xbox controllers. It connects natively, it sits comfortably in the hand and it delivers the responsiveness you expect from a higher tier accessory. The challenge is that controllers have shifted from long term investments to consumable gear, since wear and tear is inevitable and technology moves quickly. At its current price, the Instinct Pro feels out of step with what a modern Pro level controller should offer. Hall Effect or TMR sticks and multi-mode wireless connectivity are no longer luxuries, they are baseline expectations for longevity and reliability. Scuf’s own Valor Pro Wireless includes these upgrades and is sold at the same price, which makes the Instinct Pro feel like a relic from a previous generation rather than a competitive 2026 option. There is no question that the Instinct Pro is a very good controller, it simply belongs to a different moment in the market. If you are shopping for a Scuf today, the Valor Pro Wireless is the more forward-looking choice.

SCUF's customer support absolutely deserves the recognition. My controller developed stick drift just after the warranty expired. I contacted SCUF hoping they might be able to help, but I honestly expected the typical response most companies give: "Sorry, it's out of warranty." Instead, they completely exceeded my expectations. Their support team listened to my concerns, had me send the controller back, and replaced it with a brand-new one. They didn't have to do that, but they chose to stand behind their product and take care of me anyway. That kind of customer service is rare these days. I've always enjoyed using SCUF controllers, and this experience has only strengthened my confidence in the company. It's easy to make a great product, but it's how a company treats its customers when something goes wrong that really earns loyalty. Because of the way SCUF handled my issue, I'll continue to buy their products and will gladly recommend them to friends and fellow gamers. If you're considering buying a SCUF controller, know that you're purchasing from a company that genuinely stands behind its customers. Thank you, SCUF, for going above and beyond. This controller was recommended to me by a friend, who’s had his for a while now. I just finished setting it up and testing the functionality! I’d like to start by saying the packaging was sturdy as hell. I was a bit nervous since the Amazon box it came in was beat up, but the manufacturers packaging was pristine. Im very impressed!!! It’s clear to me that many precautions were taken to ensure the product arrived safely. The plastic faceplate feels very soft and smooth to the touch. The rubber grips will be great for sweaty gaming sessions, and the buttons are all beautifully responsive and springy. Bumpers and triggers feel amazing, too. The thumb sticks have this light resistance to them that feels really good, and the controller has some weight to it. It’s lighter than the elite series 2. The paddles will take some getting used to, they’re placed a bit awkwardly to me. It has a mute button built in!!! Oh, and the switches for the trigger locks feel very professional. I will update in 1 year or when this product develops stick drift, whichever comes first

Instinct Pro Interchangeable Thumbstick Pack Review: My original review below is for the Instinct Pro Controller and I do think it’s quite fantastic. Please see my thoughts on that. However, the purchaseable thumbsticks that interchange are an entirely different story. While my gripe is not with the feeling and grip, it’s with the QC when attaching them to the controller. Obviously this will wear over time as one would believe using anything for a repeated prologoned duration. However, after two boxes of extra black thumbsticks, I can tell you that QC is inconsistent across them all. Just like the controller, which is an upsell on several facets compared to the ES2, we are already having to shell out 14.99 USD for a tall convex Thumbstick as there is at least one of the other three that come with the original controller (this is another ES2 selling point like the below. Comes with the tall convex at no additional charge and feels nice and heavy/solid since they’re metal). See the below. More bang, less bucks). Ludicrous IMO, however many of us like myself are forced to take the bait for the extra leverage. The inherent problem with them is that the thread or mechanism down in the Thumbstick that has it seat firmly on top of the rocker has a variety of firmness inconsistent with the ones in the original controller box. After two boxes (purchased then requested a direct replacement box) I can tell you that neither tall convex thumb sat firmly. Both were loose/able to be pulled up or pushed down slightly with the face plate on. At the right angle, they also come up quickly off of the rocker when pulling the faceplate off. I found this highly unacceptable given the price. Most of the short concave ones had the same flaw. None of the short convex ones or tall concave ones suffer this problem oddly enough. Scuf needs better QC at the point of manufacture for these as at present I would prefer an alternative that seats firmly around the clock on my Instinct Pro. — Instinct Pro Controller Edit (8/11/22): I can safely say the thumbsticks on this controller have held up much better than the ES2’s for me in terms of drift or sticking to one side or another. I still stand by all of the below and the 5 stars, but definitely consider whether you don’t mind plastic thumbsticks that feel grippy or metal thumbsticks (ES2) that feel solid/buttery and are adjustable. I am going to try placing replacement kit ES2 thumbsticks in my Scuf to see if I can bring the same solid feeling back to this controller. ————— Original Instinct Pro Review: This is an upsell from the already very solid Xbox Elite Series 2 Controller with less features (I should repeat that: you get MORE bang FOR LESS bucks buying the Elite Series 2), however coming from Scuf you know that it’s an actively used CDL (Call of Duty League, the professional circuit) controller brand so the product is very solid and in some respects worth the upsell in its own right. For me, that’s the click triggers that quite literally feel like mouse clicking your triggers. For any FPS, that’s already a vital edge or equalizer versus the rest of the field. While the Elite Series 2 has a hairpin switch, it feels nothing like this one does. Not even in the same league. However, it works just the same, so if you can deal with a less tactile and more of what feels like there’s something stopping your trigger from all the way down instead of it feeling like the trigger was meant to be clicked/hair pinned, then I repeat the above: more bang, less bucks for the ES2. I also personally am hard on thumbsticks in general and the ES2 had stick drift and one thumbstick favoring a side after about two weeks of constant usage playing CoD, but it doesn’t feel like that will be the case here. Especially with the thumbsticks being interchangeable to the degree they are with the Scuf, that may not be the case here but I will update this review. With the ES2 you can also adjust Thumbstick tension and here you cannot, however you can compensate for that to a degree with Kontrol Freek Precision rings or there’s a more expensive but more durable orange precision ring on Amazon available for purchase that is Japanese manufactured but works well and comes in an additional height for taller sticks. There is no app here, you modify the buttons with the controller, but they work just fine, the process is not cumbersome, and the preset FPS/Battle Royale layout is actually fantastic IMO. Those buttons also click like mouse for a satisfactory feeling for those of you that like tactile like I. Will update this review after more useable but overall I am not displeased by the upsell vs the ES2 for my needs. But again, remember the above (more bang, less bucks) and do what makes sense for you individually.
