  • This optic will meet or beat your expectations.
I purchased the RMD502-EG for my Kriss Vector SDP Gen 3 which I use as my home PDW. It’s durable, the reticle is crisp, the glass is clear – yadda yadda yadda – you’ve read it all before. It’s simply a very nice green dot sight at a great price and it (almost - see below) fit the Kriss like a glove. Not too large and not too small. Besides the obvious things I already mentioned, what do I like about it? I like the simplicity of it. Just two buttons. One turns it on and is used to increase brightness. One turns it off and is used to reduce brightness. There are no other button functions. They’re not needed and they’re not missed. But, but it only has one reticle. Perfect! I only need one. Any optic I own that has multiple reticles, I choose one and I stick with it and that reticle will be whatever is closest to the circle dot that this Votatu has. (My favorite is actually a horseshoe with a chevron.) I find it works best for my poor vision and astigmatism. Bonus, no messing with buttons hunting for the correct one to let you cycle through reticles to find the one you want. Why a green diode when red is more visible in daylight? First, this green diode is plenty bright and it will never be dim or washed out no matter how strong the daylight is. Second, I prefer green at night or in dim light. Since I’ll be using the optic on my indoor PDW, green was the best choice. Bonus! The Votatu is the perfect size and height to co-witness with my irons. It’s unlikely I’ll need them with this sight having up to 50,000 hours of run time, but having the option gives me comfort. The ease with which it mounts to a picatinny rail goes without saying, but it’s nice that the long little bolts are already tipped with blue thread locker so once mounted, the optic won’t come loose and lose zero. Speaking of zero. Both windage and elevation adjust with the included tool or a small flat head screwdriver. Each click is soft, but well defined. You do not get that solid feel or audible click, but is this an issue? It’s not what I’m used to, but I’ll say no. Once you set zero, odds are you’re not going to mess with it again anytime soon so the soft clicks are acceptable. I did have one issue, but I don't consider it the fault of the Votatu. When trying to zero I brought the reticle down as far as it would go, but it was not far enough. This made it impossible to properly zero. What was the problem? The firearm. Remember, I mounted this sight on a Kriss Vector SDP. For those who don't know, the barrel is actually in the lower rather than the upper and it has what is likely the lowest bore access of any firearm. So low that this particular sight couldn't compensate for it. My solution, although rather jinky, was simply to place a small spacer beneath the rear of the sight when mounting it. This cocked it forward ever so slightly allowing the reticle to be adjusted low enough to achieve zero. I feel this issue is unique to the Kriss and won't be a problem on any other firearm. Because the Kriss is being used as my PDW, I don’t want to mess with anything when I pick it up in a moment of urgency. This is where the shake awake feature comes in. I just turn the little optic on and leave it. It goes to sleep in four minutes and waits for me to pick it up again, be that an hour away or a week. If I should be woken up at 3AM by a suspicious noise I can grab my PDW and be ready to deal with the situation with the Votatu waking up immediately. The last thing I like might sound a bit nit picky. (Is it nit picky if it’s a good thing?) It’s the lettering on the sides of the optic. The brand name on one side and the model on the other. They’re not snow white and I love it! It seems some companies are so desperate for advertising that they print their name as brightly as possible on their product. Sometimes gaudily all over the product, (which has actually caused me to skip a purchase and move on to something else). The printing on this sight is very subdued. Much more so than what is shown in the pictures. At least the one that I received is like this. It’s like a very pale gold. I love it. There are some other features that I haven’t mentioned, but other people have and they’re pretty obvious anyway. Votatu was really thinking when they designed this optic. I’ve read and watched a lot of reviews, (not just on Amazon), and even at such a low price I was expecting a decent optic, but this is much better than what I was expecting. Much MUCH better. Now for the cons. I’ll let you know if I discover any. ... show more

  • Fantastic optic for the price
I am very impressed with this optic, especially for the price! I have mainly vortex and holosun optics, but I was looking for something cheaper to slap on my shotgun. This thing is dead on, and I am able to black clay pigeon consistently with zero issues, I did not even need to adjust the zero at all for the circle and dot to be right on, for a shotgun anyway. It has not lost zero after around 300 shotgun blasts, and is still running on the original battery. The shake awake feature works well. I can't say I have abused it, but it feels solid and has been used in light rain no issue. All in all, I am quite impressed and am considering buying another to replace a Sig Romeo, as I prefer the circle dot feature and green color. ... show more

  • Nice sight
It's a beautiful thing. Might order 2 more. Little to heavy for hand gun i think. Great on my carbine.

  • Good sight for the price point
In the limited time that I have used this sight It seems robust and holds zero well. It currently sits on a AR-45 PCC. The reticle is bright and clear and adjustable for intensity but I would prefer it to be larger. Overall, a good sight for the money.

  • Compared to Holosun 510c review.
So if you saw this green dot like i did, you said clone of the holosun 510c. The build quality is great. A bit heavier than the 510c. This is really more of a pistol reticle than a rifle reticle. It seems they used a very small dot with circle in the view screen. The circle and dot reticle is about 1/3 of the size the holsun 510c is. This is really a deal breaker for me. Votatu needs to really increase the size of the reticle if they are going to make this a rifle green dot. The 510c glove to cover the sight fits about 97% of this sight. It does stay on but bunches up a tiny bit to the rear. Very functional though. Of course this item does not come with the sight and i doubt you will find a glove for this sight made. I really wanted a cheaper green dot on lower rifle calibers without paying the 340.0p price tag of holosun. If you are using a .22 rifle this will probably work. But if you need a combat green dot, stick with holosun. ... show more

  • Great alternative to Eotech
Surprisingly good! I can’t speak to durability because I used it for the first time just today, but once I got it zeroed in it was accurate and didn’t lose zero, it was bright and clear even in the sunlight. No complaints at all so far. Great product!
