  • The nicest and best fan we’ve ever had!
Color: White Style: Alexa Enabled Pattern Name: Fan
This is such a great fan! It’s quiet, it blocks light (so my little barking dog can’t see out), and it works wonderfully whether on Direct (air coming in) or Exhaust. It integrates easily with Alexa, and I love that I can adjust it even when I’m not home. Installation was a breeze—it fits perfectly in our window without needing to use the included baffles to fill extra space to the sides of the fan. We have a house that’s 100+ years old and live in Wisconsin, where we used to only get a couple of 90 degree days every summer. Thanks to climate change, now it’s more like 2-3+ weeks. Because of its age and location, we don’t have central and rely on window units. We have a large unit in the dining room that can also be controlled by my phone, and on hot days I can make the AC colder and set this fan, which is in the adjacent living room, to exhaust before I leave my office at the end of the day. The fan is powerful enough to pull the cold air through the house while still being quiet enough to not interfere with watching TV or having conversations. I definitely want more of these, one for each room that has more than one window, so we can keep the air moving and cool the house without breaking the bank on our electrical bill. I recommend this to anyone that wants a sleek, quiet fan that can be voice controlled and fits into any window easily. ... show more

  • Best window fan ever!
Color: Black Style: Alexa Enabled Pattern Name: Fan
I love this fan! it's quiet, has 4 speeds and fits so nicely in my window. I bought one last fall and I ordered two more last week. The part I love best is that it connects to Alexa, so all I have to do is say Alexa, turn on the bedroom fan and put it on speed #3 and Voila...it's done! I can even have Alexa run it for a certain amount of time or turn it on and off at a certain time which saves money on electricity. I highly recommend this fan. ... show more

  • Depends on your goals!
Color: White Style: Alexa Enabled Pattern Name: Fan
How happy you are with these fans will likely vary depending on your needs and goals. We have one on the main floor and love it for it's less intense airflow, low profile, and safety at night since we can secure the window and no one would be able to get in through the opening even if they got the fan out. We loved it so much that we got two of them for upstairs which gets much warmer. The airflow isn't enough to efficiently cool it off after a hot day and we had to come up with a different solution, but I do love using them overnight since the room stays dark and they aren't too loud. We have one with the remote and two that are Alexa enabled and both types have their advantages. The Alexa ones don't have a remote and I don't love having to talk in the middle of the night to control it, but I do like having them on a schedule. ... show more

  • Doesn't move air as well as even the cheapest window fan!
Color: White Style: Alexa Enabled Pattern Name: Fan
I just missed the return window and am very sad to have lost $130. The problem with this fan is that -- unlike other Vornado fans -- this one just doesn't move lots of air. I use it only in exhaust mode, to have cool air pulled into the house through other windows. I compared this fan with my plain old, two fan-blade window fan and used my drop-down cellular shade as a measure of air movement (looking at how far the shade was pulled away from the open window with the fan off vs on). The old fan drew the shade 3" away from the window but the Vornado only about half an inch. I read somewhere that the Vornado exhausts better if the fan is turned backwards (facing out) -- of course with the setting changed to "intake", but with the front of the fan pointing outside. This pulled in the window shade about an inch, but still weak compared to my old one. While I liked the Alexa ability, the failure of the fan to actually move air is a deal-breaker for me. I have a $130 piece of junk. ... show more

  • Works well and sophisticated looking
Color: White Style: Alexa Enabled Pattern Name: Fan
Excellent looks, good performance and Alexa enabled. I love this fan concept verses large fans in my windows which look kind of tacky. Exhaust feature is great when removing cooking odors out of the house and keeping set on low, I return to a home that smells fresh and clean. Cooling performance is good also. ... show more

  • very nice automation, not much air movement between indoor and outdoors
Color: White Style: Alexa Enabled Pattern Name: Fan
for the transom AE. The Alexa integration is easy to setup, though oddly there is no option during setup to define what network the fans connect to, and I'm not even able to find them in my routers list of connected devices. though that might just be me missing them. They are quiet fans, and suprisingly not much difference noise wise between the lowest speed and the highest speed. I like that the fan can automatically switch between intake air and exaust air. But they dont seem to move much air. I bought two fans, and set them up on opposite sides of the house, one pushing air into the house and one pull air out. my house was 74 degrees and outside was ranged from 68 down to 36 overnight, and when I woke up in the morning the house was still 70 degrees. They feel like they are moving a decent amount of air, but at the same time even though they are in the window they dont seem to move much air from outside to inside or vice versa. They seem to be meant only for tiny rooms. Other notes at lowest speed they draw 32ish watts, and at highest speed about 36ish watts according to a smart plug I had one hooked up to, so they are pretty energy efficient, just sadly dont move much air, I had better success with a cheap box fan in the window at night ... show more

  • A Smart Addition to Our Home A Smart Addition to Our Home
Color: White Style: Alexa Enabled Pattern Name: Fan
Purchasing the Vornado TRANSOM AE Window Fan has been a noteworthy upgrade to our household, especially with its Alexa integration and versatility. Initially, I was hesitant due to the high volume of returns and availability of used-like new stock, but my concerns were quickly addressed once I received the product. The fan arrives with foam spacers designed to accommodate various window widths, including measurements for 1, 2, and 4-inch blocks, providing two of each. However, I encountered a minor setback with a 1/4” gap on one side and a deeper recessed window that didn't support the bottom foam adequately. These issues necessitated a bit of DIY ingenuity. By custom cutting some spare foam and using white duct tape, I managed to achieve a seamless fit, enhancing the fan's appearance and functionality. This process, though requiring some effort, underscores that the fan isn't simply a "drop-in" solution but rather one that may need some customization for perfect integration. The fan's voice control feature via Alexa is a standout, offering convenience and easy integration into our smart home ecosystem. Despite a slight learning curve with the voice commands—particularly the preference for the term "intake" over "direct" for inward airflow—the functionality works flawlessly, greatly improving ventilation in our bathroom. This feature has been particularly useful for exhausting steam from showers and ensuring a comfortable environment during other bathroom activities. The airflow capability of this fan is impressive, effectively circulating air across a considerable distance within our bathroom. This has proven invaluable for cooling and ventilation, especially during tasks like hair straightening that generate additional heat. While the price point is higher than standard window fans, the unique features and smart home compatibility justify the investment. It's a premium solution that, with a bit of creativity and effort in installation, seamlessly blends into our daily routines, providing both comfort and convenience. In summary, the Vornado TRANSOM AE Window Fan, despite its initial setup challenges, has proven to be a valuable addition to our home. Its smart features, effective ventilation, and adaptability make it a worthwhile purchase for those willing to invest in enhancing their home's comfort and convenience. ... show more

  • Mediocre, non-remote version ONLY WORKS WITH ALEXA
Color: White Style: Alexa Enabled Pattern Name: Fan
UPDATE 2025 06 28: ================ I have replaced this item with the version that comes with the remote. It's nice to not feel like I'm forced to use Alexa at some point. However the effectiveness of the fan is still "mid" as the kids say. As I elaborated on previously, it's no better than a cheap twin-fan window unit costing half as much. I decided to keep this only because I live on the first floor of an apartment building, and it's not as easy for people to see inside. It works ok, sure. However I can't help but feel like I ordered an angus burger and got a big mac. My brand loyalty has officially expired. INITIAL REVIEW summer 2024: ======================== This is idiotic. I've purchased many items that "work with alexa" or "work with google home" but they always, ALWAYS have an option to use their own app (iHealth's bp app, LG Thinq, etc). So why do I have to use stupid Alexa? Also where the hell is the remote control? Are you seriously not including a remote because Alexa "takes care of that instead" ? Holy cow what a joke! It seems to work just fine. Doesn't go as far as most Vornado fans (usually like a spotlight or an air cannon), but it 's strong enough to pull bathroom, food, and other smells out of the apartment. The foam rubber pieces are a nice change from the usual window fan plastic plates and accordions (which I usually have to modify with cardboard and packing tape anyway). Touch controls are neat looking, but they disappear as soon as you're done with them, and you have to tap them back on, then use them. Why? To save 0.00004 watts of electricity? The whole reason I bought this was to install it at the TOP (not the bottom) of the window, as to pull the bad smells up and away, as well as to avoid pulling the cold air conditioner air right outside seconds after it's created. I was HOPING to use some remote software THAT ISN'T ALEXA to turn it back on if there's a power failure. However to install this up there, I'd have to use alexa, or keep a ladder handy. If I knew the remote was NOT INCLUDED, I would have just bought the regular remote one. If you don't like alexa, DO NOT BUY THIS. ... show more
