I have been using this fan for about a month as part of a DIY air purifier, and it has been working very well. I have it strapped to a 5 inch MERV 13 filter along with a washable 1 inch MERV 8 pre-filter. In this setup, it has performed exactly how I hoped. I usually run it between speed settings 10 and 40, and at those levels the noise is quite low. That makes it very suitable for continuous operation, especially in a bedroom. One thing I really appreciate is the built-in shroud. It saved me from having to build one out of cardboard, and it makes the whole setup feel cleaner and more solid. When turned up higher, the fan can move a lot of air, but it also gets loud. That is expected. For air purification, though, running it on lower speeds all the time has been perfectly acceptable. I like that I can fine-tune the speed to get the best balance of airflow and noise, or ramp it up when I want more aggressive air cleaning. I have not used features like the timer, and because the fan is taped into my air purifier setup, I am not using the tilting legs. When I tested them initially, they seemed well designed and sturdy. Overall, this feels like a premium fan. I would not recommend it for someone who just wants a cheap box fan. I specifically wanted a sturdy design, a built-in shroud, and a quiet motor for bedroom use, and this fan delivered on those points. I am not entirely sure it is worth the price for everyone, but it is definitely not a bad fan and works very well for my use case. ... show more

This fan is expensive compared to other box fans. We think it is worth the price difference. It is clearly well-made and we expect it will serve us for many years. It is very quiet at settings below 30 (it has 99 speeds), but still moves a good amount of air. It does get noisy at levels above 60 (like all fans on "high"), but moves a huge amount of air.     • Best box fan ever, i have always wanted a fan like this, tired of the cheap fans from elsewhere.

I wanted to give this around a month to test it out before i posted a review and now that i am there i can confidently say that this is the best box fan i have ever owned! I always wanted to get a Vornado fan but i never liked the line up of fans they had do to the sizing but the model 80/80x immediately caught my eyes months ago and started to research it and every single video really enticed me with how powerful it seemed and how well built it was! I can now honestly say that this fan is the one i have always wanted! It is super powerful, you can feel how easily it can cool down multiple rooms when you put it in front of an open window and let it rip at almost full power! I don't even feel the need to push it to 100 percent power because of how much air it can move! If you stand in front of it even 6 or 7 feet away it feels like you are win a wind tunnel and that air is really moving at a high velocity! As far as the build of the fan seems, it is very premium feeling even though they still use plastic blades. It's casing is very well built and the fan is nice and heavy so that it doesn't flip over on it's side very easily if you knock into it. I love how easily adjustable the speed of the fan is and how much control i have over the power it uses unlike the standard Model 80 which only has 5 presets, which is very limiting in how you adjust the fan speeds. I am so impressed with the Model 80X that i am highly considering getting a second Model 80x just because i think it is worth having two of these to use around the home, i would highly recommend this fan over any other box fan bar none! This fan is unlike any other I've ever heard of. The price is steep but for what you get, it is well, well worth it. A multi-year warranty, power that would knock your socks off and most importantly, its a durable, and easily cleanable/fixable fan. A lot of the cheaper box fans are not really cleanable or fixable by yourself, but Vornado designed it to where this is the last box fan you'll ever need. I absolutely love that it has variable speed control and it takes a second to switch speeds but still fairly quick, its reliable, doesn't draw too much power compared to AC fans (this is a DC fan). Its a slightly smaller than typical box fan however for my use case it was actually the perfect size and I have no complaints, especially for its performance which is unmatched by any other fan in our home. If you lack A/C in your home and can't afford to buy one, buy this fan, because 1) Its better than nothing and 2) I think this genuinely would cool you off at its highest speed. As a person who bought this fan for summer for the living room, I cannot recommend it more as I've been using it for quite a bit of time. My one and only con with this unit is that the buttons are a little suspicious, like I'd be a bit careful with them probably, but other than that I don't see any issues with it and the buttons aren't a big deal. Literally. The 80X is worth every penny. You don’t need to keep detaching the feet to put in a window. It’s sturdy, built with quality. Nice modern design. The weight is a little heavier than a standard box fan, but it doesn’t bother me. The power consumption is very little too. Sadly, it does NOT come with a remote. You will have to manually adjust settings or power off. Neat little feature it does have a timer for up to 12 hours. Cooling is way faster. I can feel the breeze with every setting except maybe 1-5. The 99 speed settings is what really sold me. ... show more

This fan speed design is what I have been thinking about and looking for, for years. Only owned this fan for a month or so and am really impressed so far. I have several Lasko 3 speed fans most for a few decades, they are reliable, only one has ever failed after years but their low speed is too loud to run at night time in my bedroom window hear my head. Another observation I have purchased & returned a couple new Lasko Fans (in the $21 range) from a major department chains, they shook, something out of balance, could cause ware on window frame. Bought them about a year apart and returned both shortly after their purchase. This Vorado 80X fan is stable, no noticeable shake. It moves considerable more "air" at its 99 speed than my Lasko fans do at their fastest speed and can be what I will call wispier quiet at their lower speeds. On a hot night I now run this Vorado quietly at its 30 speed setting sitting in a partially opened window. Its speed settings range 1 to 99 so 30 speed has 29 slower settings. The Vorado set at its 30 speed is much quieter than my Lasko's low fan speed that was too loud for night time running in that window. I have seen reviews that commented the Vorado fan is noisy and it is at its highest speed but if your moving more air, there will be more noise but its adjustable. If I have the Vorado fan set at its highest speed I can feel a breeze going down a hallway and straight into a second bed room plus a light breeze coming off at a right angle into third bed, same fan source. I have no connection with Vorado and I have no problems with Lasko they just happen to be my only easy reference I have for comparison. Will update if fan ever gives trouble. ... show more

This fan is cool... Its housing is solid. Structurally, you can knock it over with confidence and it wouldn't be phased. It features small incremental adjustments to fan speed: you can set it as low as 1%, max 100%, or any whole number in-between. It has a quick timer feature where you can set how many hours until it turns off, up to 9, I believe. It's simple, good quality, and blows really well. An example of a product where you get what you pay for. Worth the investment compared to other box fans. They offer a 5 year Warranty, but I don't anticipate using it. ... show more

When you need a fan to move the air at turbo output - this 20" box fan is the one u want. You get 1-99 speeds, 99 being the highest. 99 is noisy but still less that other fans with the same turbo output. For a relatively quiet mode, setting it at 66-70 is tolerable. The fan motor is quiet as its high quaity brushless. I like this turbo fan so much, I got 2 of them. They are $$$ expensive but are the most powerful 20" box fans I've ever owned. IF YOU GET THIS FAN, GET THE 80X AS THAT TILT FEATURE IS EVERTHING. YOU CAN ALWAYS KEEP IT UPRIGHT IF YOU WANT. ... show more
