I love the Vornado line of fans. First off, this is the non-digital version of this fan (Model 80). According to the instruction booklet the digital version (Model 80X) has a kickstand and 99 speed settings. Five speed settings are enough for me. I bought this fan to place near a window, and use it to blow air out, so that air comes back through other open windows. The fan is mostly made of hard plastic. It is very sturdy and the feet are very stable. The highest speed sounds like the turbine engine of a jet. It is very powerful in moving air. I don't think most people will need this setting, but it's great when you want to get the airflow, in a room or out a window, moving quickly. The quietest setting is super quiet and very gentle in moving air. I appreciate that the grille is easy to remove for cleaning. The weight of this fan is 12.96 pounds (according to Vornado's website). I think this fan offers excellent value for the money. My experience has been that Vornado fans last forever--my oldest Vornado fan is 15 years old. You can access more specs and the user's guide on the Vornado website. Enjoy!

Took awhile to ship, but worth the wait. This is three times the price of a cheap-o box fan, but I was hoping to find something that felt more like the solidly-built fans of my childhood, and this does NOT disappoint. First impressions: A) It's heavy. (Which is a good thing). Nothing about this feels flimsy. Even the plastics seem durable and thick. B) Controls are thoughtfully located, and straightforward. I wanted a fan that will be easy to put in a window and still live with. Knobs are a problem in this use case. C) Moves a large volume of air - as advertised. D) Not particularly quiet, but very tolerable at slow speed. This is a very satisfying product, and worth every extra penny I had to spend on it. Throwing away the cheap ones after a season or two of use is demoralizing. They make and sell replacement parts for this... you know, like a responsible company making a worthwhile product would do.

The Vornado fans aren't for everyone. These fans move a serious amount of air and are well built. Pros: moves a large amount of air and lives up to its advertised rating; solid and well built, unlike other box fans; very stable, definitely won't fall over; creates a nice white noise environment; multiple adjustment levels. Cons: expensive; heavy and larger than the average box fan (might not fit smaller windows; loud; always starts on the highest setting; gets dusty quickly d/t the amount of air it moves.

Decent box fan with a DC motor. That means it's not the quietest but it's pretty quiet. The setting actually controls voltage, not speed, so it's pretty non-linear and speed 50 is a lot less than half of speed 100. I'd say speed 65 is what actually feels like half. The buttons are pretty finicky and difficult to press correctly, I'm not sure what the reason is for that. It has a handle on top and a handle on the side which makes it pretty easy to move around. I also like how horizontal you can get it with the stand, makes it easier to circulate air in a room since you can get the air near the ceiling. I've never tested the timer function, not sure why it exists.

Now this is a box fan. Very high quality. The box and grills are sturdy and the front grill can be easily removed for cleaning. The controls are touchpad with the +\- to control the speed. On high it really delivers, but can be noisy. I run it mid way and moves a lot of air. Very stable. The fan doesn’t walk like cheaper fans and stays in place. It is pricey, but this is one of the cases where you get what you pay for. A great fan.

Yes solid built and good air flow, and yes - noisy. Of the 5 speed settings, 1 and 2 are pretty quiet. 3 is a bit loud but for me not too bad to sit in the room with it running. Speeds 4 and 5 quite loud - I only use when I just leave it venting a room when I'm not there. Another plus, I think, is the fan shroud around the blades - seems to help direct the air flow and make it more efficient. Only minor complaint is that it doesn't turn back on to the same speed it was set to when it was turned off - even if it stays connected to power the whole time. A super minor inconvenience but I thought it was supposed to do that.

There are so many types of room fans out there but I was specifically looking for a box fan and this one fit the bill. Sturdy and a little on the heavy side in a good way. Good air flow. Quiet at low speeds but no more noise than expected at high speeds for this type of fan. Nowhere near as flimsy as the thirty dollar box fans you see in your local discount store that barely make it through the summer. This fan seems sturdy, built well, powerful motor, easy to dissassemble for access to the grille and blades for cleaning. Good job Vornado! It seems like you put a little effort into making a quality box fan that works well. If your specifically looking for a good quality, sturdy box type fan this is the one.

I have the vornado 610dc fan and I've been wanting a box fan that has with variable speed too. So glad vornado made this. This fan has 99 speeds and it moves a lot of air. I keep it in the single digits at night to get a gently breeze and it's so quiet you wouldn't even know it's on. During the day I keep it on the floor and I'll have it turned up higher, to cool down the room. The built in kickstand comes in handy. It's kinda heavy, but sits securely on the window. Only thing I wish this fan has is a knob to adjust the speed like the 610dc. The buttons are okay, but I feel like a knob works better.
