I have two of these outlets controlling the lights on two different aquariums. They work great. I have had a few issues with them not turning on but the tech support is very quick to respond and get everything working as it should.

    • Works great on wi-fi but can’t operate on bluetooth only.

Title is somehow misleading. I bought this because i needed a smart plug that doesn’t depend on wi-fi thinking that i will be able to switch on and off using the bluetooth connection only. However i struggled to make it work and contacted customer support which insisted that it can be done. after two days of back and forth with CS, they finally admitted it can’t be operated by bluetooth only. So the bad news is that it’s not really a bluetooth controlled device, and you’ll need wifi to use it. (That’s why i gave it 4 and not five stars). The good news is that CS is responsive (although was initially incorrect) and that the device works great when on wifi. So if you didn’t buy it because of the bluetooth title you’ll be pleased. There’s obviously a lot of competition in the “smart device” product world. It’s often difficult to know which direction to look, when they all look & work (pretty much) the same. To me, the only obvious difference that sticks out is the pricing. While it might be true that some prices reflect quality, I have not found that to be the case with ANYTHING from the Vont product line. This includes these smart outlets. For one, all of their products have a 1-year warranty. I started off by purchasing night lights, and then motion sensor night lights. Oddly enough, I next needed a solution for my Christmas lights, to turn on at night! (See the running theme here?!) My fiancé went all out this year! And of course, she labeled me Clark Griswold; holding me responsible for plugging every single light string in… nightly! I was really starting to realize how much time it actually took to activate the nightly magic. (I actually calculated how long this process would take to put winter gear on, walk to each point, plug-in at dusk, unplug before bed… x3 months 😳) Call me crazy or call me logical… but you can’t call me stupid! Vont’s smart plug & their app (w/ Alexa integration) was AMAZING! Needless to say, while this experience left me with slightly less exercise than I would have had… I recovered hours of my life back! (I think it actually calculated out to 2.5days of time) Additionally, I ended up turning my neighbor’s into Vont fans as well! He was like, “WOW, I didn’t think about applying it for a purpose like that!” If you asked me, at their very fair price, these smart plugs were a no brainier! ... show more

I received these smart plugs from Vont as a product tester and found them to work very well. I installed the Vont Home app on my Android phone, which easily discovered and added the two devices. I then linked the smart plugs to both Alexa and Google Home and found these apps to be a very simple way to control the switches. Here are what I found to be the smart plugs' pros and cons... Pros: • Very simple and fast to discover and pair with Vont Home app and to integrate with Alexa & Google Home. • Two plugs fit nicely onto one standard outlet (see pic). • Blue LED indicator may be enabled/disabled in Vont Home app, which is nice for rooms where these LEDs could be distraction or cause of insomnia. • Solid, heavy feel. • Higher 15 amp max is great for higher draw items such as heaters (see pic) or 'dumb' coffee makers -- I connected an old coffee maker to one of these plugs and made an Alexa skill where saying "Alexa, make coffee!" would start my coffee maker on demand, and "Alexa, I'm cold!" would turn on my heater. • Very fair/low price in my opinion. Cons: • The Vont Home app still needs refining (which Vont is doing) to make it easier and more clear to use. While it was easy to discover & add the plugs, the apps shortcomings are mainly small things like the color difference between "on" and "off" switch is gray vs. slightly darker gray (see pic) instead of green vs. red, for example. Setting up timers with Vont Home is a bit clunky. With the simple Alexa or Google Home integration I honestly don't see any need to use the Vont Home app once the plugs are set up. I highly recommend these plugs, and thank Vont for giving me the opportunity to test them. ... show more

Overall, this product looks great and works well. My only complaints have to do with the companion app and the Alexa interaction. The Vont App is clunky and should make it easier for something to run on a schedule. You can either do an "on" or "off" time and then a timer until the next shift. It could be more streamlined for sure. I do appreciate the setting to turn off the status light that not every plug I have interreacted with has as an option. Getting it connected with the Alexa app was a little tricky since I had to get the "Vont" skill to help it see the existing device, but that is really on the Alexa app. ... show more

I tried to pair it with Alexa and couldn't do it. But it paired with Google. I wrote the review complaining that I could not get it set up and the company contacted me immediately and asked if they could send me a replacement. It arrived within 2 days. I really appreciate their taking the time and effort to work with me on this problem. They never asked me to change my review and I appreciate that. I did change the review because I am dogged and kept at it until I figured it out and it was a problem with my wifi. , The company was super responsive and active in making it right.
