I bought this for a friend that I work with, and he stopped using it after a while because it's "too bright" (despite the fact that he wanted this one specifically). I started using it after him, and the light isn't too bright, but it does produce focus light more than ambient light. I was searching for light source for my turntable. This fit the bill. There’s plenty of height to clear the open dust cover, choices of temperature and brightness. The gooseneck is covered with a soft flexible rubber material (no exposed metal) overall it’s a very nice presentation. The clamp is sturdy but narrow enough to fit most anywhere. It does not come with an alternative to screw down to a desk top. This was not even a concern for my application. I couldn’t have designed it better myself! Don’t hesitate. Run, don’t walk.
