Works Great - You Need to Contact Vonage When Activating It If You Have Existing Service
My 10 year old Linksys VOIP router that I originally received with my Vonage service started to perform poorly. There was a lot of static on the line and I could barely hear the person I was talking to (and they couldn't hear me either). Annoyed by this, I went on the hunt for a new router. This little unit did the trick. My calls are crystal clear again. Unfortunately, Vonage's information for getting this activated (as a replacement, not a new activation) are UNBELIEVABLY POOR. Good lord, their website will run you in circles and make you crazy. They make it sound like you should be able to do everything on your own but you can't. The instructions in the box for getting it wired up are fine. Follow them exactly. One nice thing about this unit is that it is self-diagnostic. Once you have it wired up, pick up your phone and listen to the little voice telling you if you got it correct or not. But when it tells you that it may take several minutes to activate, don't believe it. Immediately get on the phone with Vonage...or better yet, start up an IM/chat session with customer service. You will need the 'MAC Address' number that is located on the bottom of the unit. Tell Vonage you are installing a new adapter and that you need them to activate the MAC Address. They will ask you for the MAC Address number and in less then 10 minutes my system was working again.

I give the box 5 stars so far. Just received it today and it is working just fine after an activation process that was more involved than what I had hoped for. Even though I have been a Vonage customer for ten years, just plugging it in and connecting it did not result in an active phone. Apparently, this is the result of having bought the box from a retailer. Vonage v-configuration site did not recognize or accept my account user name and password nor my phone number -as user name- and password. I had to go to Vonage online chat, give them the MAC address and they bumped it from there. Took about five minutes of waiting for blinking lights and then doing a power reset for the the box to activate. What I like about the router/modem is its small footprint with an attractive color design. Also like the easily visible blue lights on the front. My old box had one green light on it's top that could not be seen unless i was standing right over it. Have used my phone several times this evening with good clear voice quality at the receiver and no problems at all. Purchase was a great value @ $20, used or re-furbished, (compared to Vonage price of $80 for a new box), including shipping. Doesn't have the clean look of a new unit but has no visible scratches or damage of any kind.

A replacement for my old Vonage unit.
Works perfectly. My old Vonage unit failed. I called Vonage and after a while on the phone they determined that the old unit (several years old) was bad, so they said they would credit my Vonage account for the cost of the unit and the cost of shipping. I emailed them a copy of the receipt for the Vonage unit, and sure enough they credited my Vonage account. Good Deal!

Worked after I on-line chatted with Vonage tech spt
My old Vonage modem (linksys RT31P2) work fine for +4 years; but, it recently stated to have A LOT of static on the line. I figure it was time to replace. Went ahead and ordered this unit because the price was just right. I tried to activate on-line; but, because the unit was used I think it was still in the Vonage system assigned to another number. On-line chat popped up asking if I needed any help and I clicked into it. I just provided the new MAC address and the chat person added it to the system, downloaded a firmware update, and restarted the modem. No more than 15 minutes from start to finish. The line is clear again with no static. I'm happy!

good firewall even if you don't want phone service
I have one of these that I got from Vonage, and when I did some testing I realized it's way faster than my old 10/100 Linksys router and about twice as fast as my old USRobotics router. Somehow they could only manage 4 and 25 Mbps (out of the spec 100) but with the same setup this one gives me the full 57Mbps (from Comcast) that I get without a router at all. Nice. Cheap. Happy. But why have a one-port router, you ask? Because a cable modem is a gateway, not a router, and if you plug this device into the cable modem you can then use a cheap 8-port switch to connect everything to the net without paying Comcast for another IP address.

Water damaged packaging.
This has not been installed yet and I will update my rating after installation. Kind of disappointed when I opened the packaging. It obviously looks very used, however, after opening it, everything appears to be brand new.

I'm a vonage customer for several yrs. now. I used to have a Linksys WRT54GP2 unit which is a vonage adapter and a network wireless G router combined for @ least 8 yrs.and have noticed for the last 3 months that it was slowing down the internet connection and was getting more and more drop calls (as in everyday) with Linksys. I decided to purchase a separate wireless N network device and Vonage VDV22 recently and voila ! solved my problems for now. I have been using this unit for approx 3 weeks, and been making calls everyday without any drop calls @ all and my comcast internet is now back to 24 to 25 Mbps download speed using Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router. For now it's great ! but we'll see, time will tell.

Work perfectly... Static Free.
This adapter was a replacement for my 11 y.o. original Vonage adapter. The replacement came with no instructions (as advertised). It was very easy to replace and works great!. If you currently have one computer connected to your cable Modem (or DSL connection), there is a "pass through router" on this device. Otherwise, if you have a LAN, you would just plug this into your router. I am very please with this product.
