I used a 5 gallon bucket to hold my water. Drilled a few holes in the top for the power cord and hose so i could still use a lid. Had to poke a hole in the supply line just to keep it from syphoning out all the water when pumps off.

Well I bought two of these useless units and had the same.problems with both, so it wasn't just a bad one. 1. Plugs on timers Plugs on timers won't hold a plug, pump plug is constantly falling out of the socket, there's two plugs in the timer, neither hold a plug. This was a problem with both kits 2. Timers Timers loose programming and completely reset themselves randomly once a week. This has also been a problem with both kits. Tubing. The tubing for my drip emitters was pinched off and kinked, so flow was restricted. Since the lines come pre assembled and hot water didn't help, I had to cut it all apart and shorten all my tubes to make it work. While one kit was much worse than the other, this too was a problem with both kits. First thing I replaces was their emitters. Neither pc or leak free, the rest was as follows Honestly this kit is a joke. Nothing in it worked right times 2 and all it did was show me how to assemble a micro drip when I source parts that will work. Avoid this! Just buy quality components separately. Another reviewer posted that the hoses are rather kinked in the package. That is true. However, I did some flow tests, and despite the kinks, they all had approximately the same flow. Not enough difference for me to even measure. I have several dislikes besides the kinks. 1) The fitting in the included diagram that connects directly to the pump did not work for me. There is 2 of those fittings in the kit. I could not connect the main hose to either fitting. It just wouldnt go on. There was a 3rd fitting that kind of resembles the first two (though not shown in the parts list, and not shown on the diagram) that works just fine so I used it instead. I was able to get the tube onto that. Thanks for the unnecessary frustration as I dont have enough during the day. 2) It leaks. The parts that leak are the blue pieces shown in the diagram. I have made sure everything is tight as can be and it still leaks. It doesnt leak a lot (about a table spoon in 9 minutes), but they shouldnt leak at all. Other than those 2 irritations, the timer was easy to program and works great. The pump puts out more than enough fluid. At full setting on the pump(it is adjustable), EACH of the 8 lines put out just a tad over 1/2 cup (118ml) in just 9 minutes. Ordered this before reading the reviews, I was worried about the packaging issues that were being reported. Happy to say mine was packed correctly with only 1 minor kink. I’m sure this would work fine under normal circumstances, however the way this was packaged rendered the tubing unusable. The zip ties they used in the packaging on all 3 different sizes of tubing were cinched tight and permanently deformed the tubing… Completely restricting any flow! Normally I would just ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ it off and grab some new tubing from the hardware store (this was my initial plan), but the ID/OD is an exact fit for the provided fittings, and any deviation would mean I need new fittings too. I was really excited for this, but now I’m just kinda sad lol. I’m in contact with Luna at Vivosun customer service, if we can get this resolved in a productive/swift manner I’d be happy to change my review. Thanks. ... show more

    • skeptical yet surprising
Any previous irrigation pump I have owned had low water leads. This helps not to ruin pumps due to dry running. Per usual I left for a week and forgot to add water. I thought about it half way through my trip about the lack of low water leads and expected to have to replace this thing due to my own negligence. To my surprise this thing picked right up. Its easy enough to program and unlike other pumps of this style you are able to adjust how long it runs. Most other units run for 5 min every 6-12 hours. I love the ability to run this for 90sec every 8 hours. I am not going to count on any pump surviving dry running more than once, but if it does die due to my future negligence I will update this to reflect as much. ... show more
