This item did work as long as the log was not too big around. It takes a good swing to split a log but it works, just not as good as expected.

I’m a female, mid 40’s was excited to get this as I love yo have my fireplace burning….It falls over too easy when you go to hit the wood. Need to hit it wicked hard the first time so the blade will hold it. works best with pretty small pieces of wood, you really have to hit the wood pretty hard for it to split. I bought on 1/9 and the blade is already bent. ... show more

    • There’s a learning curve.
Once I figured it out, it was somewhat easier to use. The wood I split might have been a little new. I think it would be easier with dryer wood.

It's only good for making fire kindling wouldn't even split 3.5" aspen logs.
