So glad I listened to the reviews. This is beautiful and so realistic. Adds such a nice, cozy touch to our living room! I will say, the noise is a bit louder than I expected. But if you have the TV on, you can’t really hear it. If you don’t, I’d imagine it may be a little irritating. I have owned this for over a year now and absolutely love it! It was a replacement for burning wood. It puts off a good amount of heat and the ambience is great. You really can’t tell that it’s not a real fire burning and so much safer. Great purchase!

To be frank, this purchase turned out to be much better than expected! The pictures make it look kinda cheap and chintzy, but it is surprisingly not the case at all! It feels well made, solid and looks much more realistic than I thought it would. Most people have to look closely to figure out if it's real or not. It works well, but doesn't heat the room as well as I had hoped. I'm not sure if that's a function of product design / output, or heat loss from the chimney or the location given the fact that I'm used to my old space heater being a few feet away (rather than across the room in the fireplace). My only complaint is with respect to the remote and controls, which has a very poor interface. There are three functions that can be adjusted; 1) light output (brightness of fake fire), 2) temperature and 3) a timer. All three functions share the same two digit display, so changing one function will override the display another function setting. We have found ourselves using the timer much more than anticipated (almost a must), which I think is a function of it's location in the fireplace where it's easy to forget to turn it off. Given the singe output interface, if we set the timer (which can only be adjusted in one hour increments), then we have no idea what temperature setting currently applied and vice versa. It's not clear if adjusting the temperature overrides the timer setting or just the timer display. It's not a big deal, just a little annoying. I wish there was a way to see the temperature and timer settings at the same time. FYI, you really want to make sure you don't lose the remote, because making the adjustments on the unit is painful (particularly if you have fire screen in front of it). ... show more

My Kiddo and I have always wanted a fireplace, and when we moved to a new place that was FREEZING, so this was a no-brainer. It's easy to install (just plug it in!) and the remote is nice to have on hand, but the switches on the side of the unit are simple to understand, as well. The flames are a bit cartoonish, but it's still a nice ambience. The sound when the heating element in turned on it loud, but the heat output is good. ... show more

several years ago, my dad built me a beautiful faux fireplace for my bedroom. I bought a fireplace grate and stack a birch logs in it for looks and didn’t think much more of it. Living in Michigan, our winters are pretty cold, and while I was looking to revamp to look at my fireplace, I was also looking for a space heater, I never dreamed I would find a heater that I could put inside of my faux fireplace and give it a look of a gas fireplace! I love the light projection on the back that makes the flames dance and I love the remote. My favorite detail is the timer setting on the remote. Every night before I go to bed ice that the heater for one hour and fall asleep by the light of the fireplace, it is absolutely magical! I do wish that offered a crackling sound effects, but that’s a minor detail compared to how wonderful it is. ... show more
