I bought this to use for my daughter's checkups at St. Jude in Memphis. She's a teenager now and likes to carry all of her "things" with her, so I was looking for one with a wider seat. I bought this one because it is supposed to be "bariatric" and have a 19" seat. It is neither of those things. We didn't bother returning it because it's way too big of a hassle. It seems to be a nice sturdy transport chair, but it is no bigger than all the others out there. Hope this helps someone else who needs a wider seat! :)

I needed a wheeled chair, but wheelchairs would be a tight fit in my home. I saw reviewers commented this chair fits through narrow doors โ and it does! So glad I bought it. The instructions clearly caution this chair is not intended for self-propulsion. However, it works perfectly for me. I am not quite 300 lbs., but I am fat enough that my love handles expand to fill the space under the armrests. Despite my tight fit this chair has been outstanding. I can get to every room in my home, I can accomplish daily tasks. I removed the leg rests โ they pop out easily. The wheels are locked by pulling down a large handle under the brakes. The wheels are easily locked from the seated position if you have the range of motion to allow reaching back. I recommend this workhorse of a chair unreservedly. ADDENDUM: I want to add 5 stars for Phillip at Vive Health Direct customer service. I sent them a question. Not only was the response rapid, but he went the extra mile in providing information.
