    • Overall, decent camera with one major flaw
I installed this camera in my truck with the wiring kit, wired permanently into my fuse panel so I can use it in parking mode as well as driving. Installation and use instructions are pretty clear and it has a lot of customizable features to meet different usage environments. The lens and sensor seem good and take clear videos, night and day. But this camera wasn't designed for the heat it experiences being mounted inside a motor vehicle in the sun. When the vehicle is parked in the sun on a summer day, the camera will often go offline, and it doesn't automatically reset itself when it cools off... it won't reset until the next time it is power-cycled. I just went through a period when the camera hasn't work, except at night, for about 10 days. The only time I could get it to work in the daytime was when I took it off the mount, held it in front of an air conditioner vent for several minutes to cool it, then replaced it on the mount. I don't have time to do that every time I get in the truck all summer. So the bottom line is that it's a good camera techincally, but not very reliable if you live in a warm climate and ever park outdoors. ... show more

    • Well Thought Out, Better Than Rexing V1 4K
If I had to describe this dashcam in one phrase, it would be “well thought out”. The physical design is one of the best on the market, with a very logical button placement, and distinct, clear labels. I love that the GPS unit and power are integrated into the window mount, eliminating the need to have usb cords sticking out of the side of the camera. Physical design had a big influence over which dashcam I ultimately chose, as it’s going to be mounted in my field of view and used on a regular basis. The A129Pro is certainly one of the best designs on the market when it comes to that. Also, included in the box is a super thick & long power cable, 12v dual USB charger, extra adhesive mounts, and a trim tool. Picture quality was also a deciding factor in my dashcam purchase, and I’m happy to report the A129 Pro is sharper than my previous Rexing V1 4K when it comes to resolving plate information during the day. The image quality at night is also very impressive. In some review videos of the A129 Pro, it looked like the night footage had a slight purple tint, which is often produced by cameras with a cheap image sensor. This was a worry, as I do a lot of driving at night. However in all my testing and usage, this was not the case — night footage looks totally acceptable with no weird color shifting! It has better low light performance than my previous Rexing V1 4K, hands down. The user interface is also very well rounded. The menu items are thoughtfully organized, and it has some useful features such as parking mode and motion sensing. I’m currently running this camera solo in full 4K and leaving it running 24/7 and it has been doing great. But it’s nice to have the option to add a rear camera in the future. Viofo’s mobile app seems to work better than Rexing’s app too, which is an important part of the dashcam user experience. It’s also easier to turn on WiFi on the A129Pro, and you can transfer full 4K files onto your mobile device no problem. (Whereas the Rexing only supported mobile transfers of 1440p max resolution.) One issue I had when first reviewing footage from the A129Pro from the SD card on my computer was playback of the clips in Quicktime. Despite watching them on a brand new high-spec MacBook Pro, the dashcam videos played as though they had been recorded in two frames per second, even though the cam was set to 4k30fps. Upon further research, other people had this issue too. The solution is to change the camera from H.264 to H.265 video codec, which is more modern, space efficient, and plays back smoothly in QuickTime. Or alternatively, if you prefer to record in H.264, play the files using VLC instead of QuickTime to alleviate the issue with video playback lagging. Aside from this one hiccup, the A129Pro has been a pain free experience. I would definitely buy this again to install in another vehicle over the Rexing 4K! ... show more

It's a true 4k clearly I can read license plate or others like name of the street, detailing on the videos during day time, I hope some day they're can improve nights time video quality ,but I don't know why this product got low reviews, and the cheapest dashcam fake 4k got more reviews and have alot of buyers maybe they're doesn't care about the video quality, or maybe the prices to expensive, for me prices doesn't matter, if spend little bit more got better quality video so yea why not ... show more

Parking mode good. Video quality clear. See license plates well. 256 mem holds 2 weeks on 4k. Had to by polarizing lens because of windshield glare affecting clearness of video on sunny day.

Bought this due to the small form factor. I have an Accord Touring and the mirror/sensor assembly doesn't leave a lot of room for placement. The cam fit nicely to the left of the assembly behind the mirror not blocking my view at all. I used an OBD power connector which I ran left along the headliner and down the A-pillar to the OBD plug near the fuse box. It was very easy to install hiding the wires. Also used the anti-glare cover since it would get a lot of glare. The Wi-FI when activated easily connects to my Samsung 8+ and I can easily download video files without removing the mini SD card. So far the video images appear to be sharp and clear. My only disappointment and reason for 4 stars is that the GPS, date, speed and other data are not imprinted to the video. You need to use an application to view the data only on your PC. Other than that, I am happy so far with my purchase. ... show more

Hey Viofo - not all of us are techies. I CANNOT get my firmware updates to happen for the 2 VIOFO 129 PRO cameras I just purchased. You need to make this much more intuitive and AUTOMATED. There are also chances of a buyer to get into areas that are not good. I can see that my units do not have the most updated Firmware, and don't have time/money to hire someone to do this for me. ... show more
