I had first purchased this "Italian Premium" (imported from Italy), about 7 months ago on Amazon. I remember taking a lick of the spoon and it was so peppery I went for a glass of water. This new bottle I just received doesn't seem to be as peppery as I remember, and also seems a bit lighter or thinner than the exact same product seemed before. Between the time I possessed these two bottles, I also purchased from the supermarket a bottle of Colavita "Premium" (bottle states it comes from any one of a group of certain Mediterranean countries), so perhaps that THAT one was thicker (but not very peppery) and is confusing me now. I would probably order the Italian Premium again, though. And also want to try it mixed with Colavita white balsam vinegar that another reviewer recommended to make a delicious salad dressing. ... show more

Bottle was broken in shipping. Was not packed very well. Shipped with 2 other items which were covered in the oil, but not damaged. Gave the olive oil 5 stars even though it was unusable, but know it’s quality.

A quality Italian-sourced EVOO. A really nice fruity/olive main taste. But not much in the 'aftertaste' department ... so I ended up mixing it 50/50 with another EVOO I had bought that was strong in the spicy/nutty aftertaste department. (I needed a robust flavor profile for dipping) Came well packaged. The only negative point is that I thought it was a little pricey for a 500 ml bottle. I will definitely buy it again. Flavor Name: Olive Size: 17 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
Nice pungency and peppery bite (high oleocanthal). Colavita italian is a high phenol oil, according to one study, so it a healthy olive oil. This oil actually has less flavor and bitterness than I was expecting, not a lot of depth, maybe more when it is more fresh or closer to harvest, but alas, Colavita does not offer harvest dates so you are almost guaranteed a less fresh product. The oil is a bit thin for my liking too, I'm not sure why it is so thin, probably low oleic % compared to picual. But despite the relatively mild flavor, the peppery bite is strong so I am satisfied that this is a health promoting olive oil. ... show more
