I am blown away by the quality of the Viltrox AF 56mm f/1.4. For the price, I wasn't expecting this level of performance. The f/1.4 aperture produces absolutely creamy, dreamy bokeh that isolates subjects perfectly. The all-metal build and included metal hood make it feel like a premium $600 lens in my hand. The autofocus is snappy and quiet, and it works perfectly with Sony’s Eye-AF. It’s incredibly sharp in the center even wide open. If you’re looking for a professional-looking portrait lens on a budget, this is the one to get. 5/5 stars!

Great Value and Image Quality, But AF Could Be Better

I took the Viltrox 35mm f/1.8 II out for a full day of street photography on the new Sony A7R6, and overall, I came away impressed, especially considering the price. Image quality is very good, the 35mm focal length is perfect for walking around and street shooting, and the lens feels like a great match for a high-resolution Sony body. Unfortunately, autofocus was just okay. I was really hoping to see it absolutely rocking and rolling with the A7R6’s latest AF system, but it didn’t feel quite as fast or confident as I expected. It certainly wasn’t bad, but there is room for improvement, particularly when trying to grab quick street moments. I’m also disappointed that there isn’t a Lightroom lens profile available yet. The Viltrox 14mm AIR already has one, so I’m hoping Adobe/Viltrox support the 35mm f/1.8 II soon. Having automatic distortion, vignetting, and lens correction would make the workflow much more polished. Overall, this is a very good lens with a lot going for it. Better AF performance and a Lightroom profile would easily push it closer to five stars for me.

Great lens. Takes amazing shots. A little heavier than expected, but I got used to it very quickly. I usually use Sony, Sigma or Tamron, but I'd definitely use Viltrox again in the future.
