  • Solid, super tiny emulator on a stick that plugs directly into HDMI!
TLDR: I like this system a lot - it plays up to PSX/PSP level games quite well! There's a lot to like about this system, so let's dig in! Actual emulation is quite good. The system has enough horsepower to play some of the more difficult consoles like the PSX, PSP, and Dreamcast. It plays the 8 and 16 bit console games quite reliably. The system allows you to toggle resolution from 480 to 1080, though I didn't see much of difference in performance as you increased resolution. I did notice that the user interface displays more predictably at higher resolutions - at lower resolution the interface looks off-set a bit. I couldn't figure out whether it's possible to switch games so they're presented in their original 4x3 perspective. All console games were stretched widescreen. Some retro arcade games seemed to have left-right borders built-in. The controllers look like PS2 controllers, with dual analog sticks and 4 shoulder buttons across the top. It feels good in the hand, the plastic doesn't feel cheap, though from a build quality standpoint, the top shoulder buttons make a lot of rattly sounds if you shake around the controller. They could have been a little tighter or added some dampening membrane. Each controller using 2 AAA batteries, and they pair to the system by a single dongle. I think generic products like these tend spend a lot of effort to coming up an elaborate load animation when you first boot up than it's worth - yes indeed, this product by default starts with a long intro video. Intro animations generally are there to distract you while the heavy loading is happening. In this case, I think the animation just bogs the system down and adds extra load time. Fortunately, you can turn this off in a setting so you never have to see it. There's one microSD port that has all of the games loaded - I haven't experimented whether there's room on the SD card or if I can remove some games to make room for others. Some game titles appear on the menu multiple times, and I'm curious if that's a glitch or if the same game is listed there multiple times (For example, under Atari ST, there are quite a few listings for Xenon II: Megablast) All in all, I'd recommend this package in spite of some quirks. For its price, you get a whole lot of gaming. To be clear, while emulated gaming sounds like a good idea to relive yesteryear, in actual practice MANY of these games seem extremely dated, especially when you're playing it on a giant 4K TV. ... show more

  • Save the 40 bucks, Build a mame yourself.
Cheap crap, handles suck, and the arcade games don't properly size like MAME should do on a TV so everything is stretched too wide if you're playing mame.

  • I really wanted it to be better.
I really wanted this to be good and it's halfway there but the controllers were a real let down. They looked great but the second you picked it up you could tell how light and cheap they are. The games are wide reaching and great but if the controller disconnects and you have to restart the system it's really not worth it. I was able to play a few games with my daughter but everything kept disconnecting. I tried sitting closer to the device itself for the signal and it still wasn't working. I had new batteries in the device and tried both controllers but it still would eventually fail after a restart. Maybe it would be fine if I used a wired connection but honestly can't recommend it based on my experience. ... show more

  • AMAZING concept, MASSIVE number of games EASY setup but MANY games are unplayable
This device is SUCH an amazing concept and proof that our tech has progressed SO much in a relatively short period of time by putting literally DECADES worth of retro-era games from 40+ different retro platforms on ONE tiny chip and making SOME of them actually playable! Many of the games I tried to play are playable and even enjoyable to to SOME extent to play like my OG favs Asteroids , Pac-Man, Zelda (barely) and SOOO many more are available on the device. Unfortunately though, a VERY large number of the games myself, my adult kids and my young grandkids wanted to and TRIED to play would load, but thats IT. SOME of them actually made actions like sounds, beeps, scene changes and so on that got us excited but ultimately my kids and grandkids got bored and stopped trying saying it was slow and it sucked. I on the other hand, was MUCH more motivated so I kept trying and trying and TRYING to find games that I could actually play, but most of the time, whenever a game was even remotely playable, the input lag was SO bad that continuing was pointless. Other times the game loaded but the controls did not work at ALL!! I have to admit, the extreme nostalgia of seeing many of these games I used to LOVE and even play them sometimes is worth some money, and the massive number of games, many of which I have NEVER heard of but look cool, means that there is likely HOURS and HOURS of digital nostalgic exploration and new electronic frontiers to be discovered for the highly motivated adventurer!! In the end, I found this device to have MUCH potential and SOME entertainment value to me, but I wish someone would actually fully test all of the games on the device to make sure they are actually playable because this device also triggers a fair amount of FRUSTRATION and even DISAPPOINTMENT due to the seemingly untested nature of many of the ported games we tried to enjoy. I do realize this would be a MASSIVE undertaking , but would be worth it in the end and this device set would have so much more value in so many ways. Overall, I enjoyed playing with the device but I dont think its worth the asking price unfortunately. Your mileage may vary ... show more

  • Nice Plug & Play Nostalgia
This video game stick feels like I went back in time. First, the number of games that this thing has--just imagine all the consoles and cartridges you would have to have to be able to own the number of games that are on this stick. This thing plugs into an HDMI--similar in size to a Fire Stick. Then once it's in, the controllers are similar to the PlayStation controllers. The graphics aren't too bad. Can't really complain much as those games back then do not have the same graphic greatness compared to the games nowadays. You will enjoy this for hours on end. Start walking down memory lane because this brought me back three to four decades. This is a great find. ... show more
