Delivered ahead of schedule and in good condition. Has not been installed yet. Primary use is to power an ambitious lighting circuit at a constant voltage. This is easy enough to do with the basic model. This unit will also have the ability to run a charge algorithm for another battery or in reverse to charge my main battery from a 12v nominal source like an alternator. I switched over to the Victron Charger since I had already installed two other Victron products and like the way they work. I love this piece of equipment!!! Great manufacturer, but was advised improperly by 'shop solar.com'. They told me to buy this unit for my camper van. Turns out this is not the preferred unit for a camper van it is designed for a car and trailer as it has 2nd grounding point. I did find a way around the install. It interfaces with my other Victron product flawlessly. I know how much charge is going into my batteries whenever I access my bluetooth devices.     • Gets too hot. Crowd support doesn't cut it
Victron makes good stuff, but this unit becomes very hot, and with less than the rated load attached. Makes me a little worried when the chassis approached 50 degrees C. Victron does not directly support their products, instead relying on dealers. Good luck with that! There's crowd support, which can be effective, but it's the cheap way out of the problem, and maintains a disconnect between the customer and the company (and it's development decisions). Paying a premium for "blue power" should not leave the customer feeling blue about support after purchase. The unit does not provide much in the way of data for remote (or even local) information. Victron has some fairly good facilities for monitoring performance, through a variety of means including bluetooth and IP-based, but there's inconsistency between devices. If I had it to do over again, I'd look for another product that is better supported and that is consistent in its data presentation and UI integration. ... show more

Unit works great and works as it should but the Bluetooth range sucks! After 10 to 12 feet - Forget it!

    • Get the Non Isolating if you are hooking up a trailer or truck camper with a shared ground
The Isolated one is where you don't have a battery tied to the vehicle system. I used it in our Truck camper Which brought the power in via the same pigtale that connects the running lights, Brake Lights tail lights and turn signal lights. Therefore the ground was shared. When I connected the Victron Isolating DC to DC charger it Isolated the ground of the vehical from the ground of the camper which caused the lights to quit working. I should have purchased the Non Isolating DC to DC charger as the camper gets connected to the vehicle ground. If you install this one as described none of your Tail lights will work. This WILL work if you are running an independent wires from the vehicles battery directly to the house battery. My solution was to run the pigtail ground and both the input and output wires to the House Negative buss bar no it all works. ... show more

*Updated* Originally wrote a bad review for the dead product and lack of tech support/Victron wants you to speak to dealer/dealer has no phone and no one wants to communicate through email when troubleshooting this stuff. Finally spoke to another dealer (Thank you, Battleborn!!) and they helped. It was NOT the product. Something was hooked up wrong on our end. Hopefully device will work well once hook up is corrected, but definitely not a “dead on arrival” product as we thought. ... show more
