I got two of these lights in black gold-line finish to hang outside of the garage. The light is made of aluminum, light and very sturdy. I like the simple, black with gold-line rustic look of the frame (see picture). The clear bevel glass with see through top allows light to shine through the top during the night is a plus (see picture). The light comes pre-assembled except the top hook piece has to be screwed in. It comes with the installation brackets, screws, three electric twist caps and an instruction sheet (see picture). The installation is straightforward, taking out the old lamp, installing the bracket, wiring the white, black and ground wires (follow the instruction sheet). Make sure the ground bare wire is connected to the bracket and the light frame in order to ground the metal frame. There are 3 modes of operations, namely (1) dusk-till-dawn mode, (2) complete-off then 100% brightness when motion detected (ECO+ mode), (3) standby with 30% brightness and 100% brightness when motion detected (Dim mode). What I like is that the ECO+ mode and the Dim mode can be selected simply by using the small button at the motion sensor at the top of the frame, rather than some other way of flipping a light switch used in other light fixtures. Once it was selected, the light will store its setting. Further there is a nice feature not mentioned on the website: when I press the little button on the motion sensor, in the dim motion sensing mode, the dim brightness can be adjusted from very low brightness to about 1/3 to 1/2 full brightness. After the adjustment, the light brightness will remain at that level when motion is not detected and else to full brightness. This is really a very good feature to further save electric power and allows one to adjust the stand-by brightness of the night environment. I very much like the dusk to dawn sensor. While in this mode it has a dual illumination setting. When motion is sensed it is 100% bright, after ~ 1 minute it returns to 30% brightness providing safety & energy efficiency. No similar features in store fronts. Arrived quickly. Easy installation!

Installed two of these on either side of the garage door. They both functioned perfectly for the first month or so now the one unit is malfunctioning. When set to dawn to dusk it flickers, goes off completely and then comes back on. Must be a bad sensor. Edit: I discovered a week or so later after taking down the lantern and checking the wiring, that in fact it's not the fixture but the bulbs. Amazon pairs Tobusa Vintage Edison bulbs with this listing and they are BAD. If you go to that bulb listing and read the reviews customers are complaining about them failing after a few weeks. First the light starts to dim or oscillate then they just start flicking off (bad filaments?) Anyhow, I swapped out bulbs and now no more flickering. Buyers beware of the bulbs paired by Amazon with this fixture. ... show more
