Actually easier to assemble than I thought, and it's fully dipped in wax so it smells great as you assemble it. My only gripe, like others, was lack of nails or clavos to assemble frames. Luckily our hardware store is right there, and we had some left from another manufacturer that we purchased. Glued and nailed the frames, already collecting honey. I did add a thin Plexi panel inside the opening. I thought about mesh for summer, but I like the Plexi a bit more, I can check quick without smoking or bothering them the progress to that outer frame. Or show them off to friends, let's be real. The craftsmanship is very nice. Everything fit together tightly, no issues.

Where should I start! The side panels are cracked thru 2 of them from one joint to the middle - so & 8 inches . One tenen is broke off 30% of it at the very top of the box. The wax brushing was done in haste and shows none of the wood fit snug together to build the comb trays. Definitely upset I paid so much and the spent 7 hours trying to fix it so I could use it.

This is okay for beginners but a pro would not like it. The wood in the bottom and top board have spaces between them. I think the wood shrank after dipping. I would have been better if the bottom and top was one solid piece of wood not boards side by side. I have to seal them up with wood sealant due to hive beetles and fire ants. The view ports needs Plexiglass recessed like the old summerhawk hives. Bees will seal it up without plexiglass. This is starter hive material.

I think a lot of people don't realize that this is a great hive to get into bee-keeping, especially at this price point. Most complaints stem from it's craftsmanship and putting it together. I put it together in about a hour. Really, all you need is wood glue. Because I have a brad nailer I used that in conjunction with the wood glue; but really wasn't necessary. I bought bees wax after the hive was complete. I used it to seal all the tiny crevices; but I used it mostly to seal off the removable 'viewing door'. Personally, it's a novelty and I have zero interest in it. If you want to try your hand at Bee-keeping at a very fair price, buy this hive along with some wood glue. You can always buy more expensive hives later.

Very disappointed in the quality of this package. There were two broken pieces of wood, and the cutting of the wood was very poor quality. One end board was split into two pieces and the other end board had such a crown that there was no way it was going to make a square box. The observation window cover was also split in two pieces and the hardware package was missing. The dovetail cuts were absolutely garbage, I could’ve done a better job freehand with my circular saw. Sent this one back and will no longer be shopping for this brand of beehive parts until I hear their quality improves.

All parts were there, fast shipping. I’ve been bee keeping for several years now, using a verity of different brands. This one fell short of my expectations, but for the price I’ll live with it. Pros: The wood is well waxed, no doubt in my mind the wood will repel water. All parts were there, nothing pre assembled Looks good when put together Cons: The viewing views are not windows at all, they open up to the inner hive. Which makes them useless in my opinion. Several one side panel did not align well and required some cutting to fit together. But the seems could be improved, but the bees will seal it up. Frames didnt fit well, I had to stand down the track to free up some room. It’s almost as if the machines used have poor tolerance capabilities.
