I am building a TV stand for in my basement that always stays pretty cool even in the summer. I want to put an electric fireplace heater into it for the heating as well as the ambience while sitting down there watching movies on the couch. This item should be perfect for the size and heating required. Upon receipt, I unboxed it and checked everything out. It is a lot lighter in weight than I thought it would be but that is fine. The size is perfect for the build that I am doing. Once I plugged it in and turned it on I immediately detected an odor that I am sure is from any coatings on the heating elements getting cooked off for the first time. I'm sure that odor will go away quickly with use. I love that it comes with a remote control that allows you to control power, temperature, "flames" on and off as well as change colors of the upper "flames" (there are no actual flames, just the depiction of them in the plastic design). You can also set a time for how long you want the heater to run. You can also have just the lighting on while the heater is off. The fan is definitely audible but should be muted some when installed in my build and it's not real loud compared to how much air it is pushing which happily surprised me. There is also a control panel on the fireplace itself that will control everything that the remote does. The remote will require two AAA batteries (NOT included). I do wish that you could control the colors of the lower "embers" as well but as it is, you can only control the brightness. The color control is reserved for the upper "embers". Overall, I'm pleasantly pleased with this item and can't wait to finish my build and get it installed. I'll upload some photos when it's done.

First, who doesn't love a crackling fire in the evenings? It's tough to use one in the summer, when staying cool is a priority, so this 25" electric log set up is ideal as it can be operated with or without heat. And it's perfect for our empty fireplace -- the chimney needs to be completely rebuilt and has been capped off, but we weren't ready to fork out the money to install a ventless gas log fireplace. It's a smaller fireplace, so the 25" logs fit with a little room to spare (note that the widest part of the logs set is the rack they sit on, and that is the 25" wide measurement.) This is not going to fool anyone close up, but it doesn't need to. It's cute, energy efficient, and offers the options of flames with or without sound and with or without heat. There are a few flame color choices, but I love the yellow and red the most. The remote offers a timer, the ability to dim the flames, control the temperature, control the sound, and control the flame color. The cord is grounded and must be plugged in, so hiding the cord is a bit of a challenge, as it snakes around the outside of the fireplace to get to an outlet. We still have our fireplace tool kit and have set it in front of the cord and pinned it in place on the baseboard so it's not an eyesore. This log set is one piece (other than remote) and is fully put together. Plug it in and install batteries in the remote (not included) and you're ready to go. The manual walks you through the remote, but not always as clear as it could be. Once you've spent some time trying out all the features, it's pretty simple to use. This set weighs in at about 11 pounds, and is 13" tall with just under 10" depth. It has a great safety feature of shutting off if overheated. All in all, these electric logs are a great option to enjoy a fireplace without investing in major repairs or upgrades. Perfect for renters or shallow Victorian fireplaces, too.

This is a nice electric fireplace insert heater but needs some improvements! I have a wood burning fireplace but never use it because of the mess of burning wood. However the bottom embers don’t match the top embers and makes the fire look very unrealistic. The heater works good and puts out a lot of heat and the fan is quiet. Please note to always plug this into its own outlet like any other space heater because of the power wattage. Another design flaw I’ve noticed is the crackle fire noise sounds nothing like a real fire and there is no way to turn down the sound. At the moment I would not recommend this electric fireplace insert because of the design flaws.
