  • It's ok for MOCA backhaul, but glitchy.
I bought this thing because I have a 1 Gbps connection with the G3100 router, and this was compatible. I have a 3000 sq ft house with old coaxial cables in almost every room. Sure, I could get a regular Wifi mesh system, but I've learned that most of them aren't compatible with MOCA backhaul. Does this thing work? Yes, I can get 500-800 Mbps Wifi speeds with the extender using MOCA backhaul. I'm thinking about adding a 2nd one to another part of the house for more coverage. It has some glitches using MOCA. Sometimes it's slow to connect a new device through an ethernet connection once you turn the device on or connect it, such as a laptop or Playstation. That's my only complaint about it. Once I turned the Wifi on the router, it automatically turns on the Wifi on the extender, they act as one unit. So I'm ditching my old TP Link M5 mesh system this weekend, and I'm switching my home devices over to the Verizon devices now because of the 5 Ghz speeds I can get though MOCA. ... show more

  • Disappointed
We bought two of these for our 1400 Sq foot house to extend the coverage. The extenders would not maintain a signal unless very close to the router which defeats the purpose. We placed one extender on the second floor directly over where the router was located and the second extender was approximately 30 ' feet away from the router in a sun room. Both extenders continually blinked yellow in their respective locations which indicate that the extenders need to be closer to the router. What is the point of an extender if it needs to be very close to the router? And, these were very expensive comparatively. We ended up buying a new FIOS compatible router and extenders from ASUS for less than the two Verizon extenders cost. Really disappointed with this product and would not purchase again. ... show more

  • Works with FIOS router
Read the instructions (I know, it sounds silly, but you gotta do it) This unit must be paired with your FIOS router before it can be placed where you want it to be. For pairing, (you will need to connect it with the short ether net card that comes with the unit) the extender must be placed about 3 feet from the router. If you place it right next to the router it will not pair. Once pairing is successful (it takes about ten minutes) you will need to run a CAT5 ether net cord from your router to the place you want the extender to be. ... show more

  • Verizon/Fios Wi-Fi Extender E3200: Balancing Act Between Performance and Price
The Verizon/Fios Wi-Fi Extender E3200 emerges as a noteworthy contender in the world of Wi-Fi extenders, especially for those already within the Verizon ecosystem. Its most striking feature is its seamless integration with existing Fios systems, providing an almost effortless setup experience. This plug-and-play aspect is a significant boon for users who might be less tech-savvy. Performance-wise, the E3200 does an admirable job in extending the reach of Wi-Fi signals within the household. Users living in multi-story homes or those with numerous Wi-Fi 'dead zones' will appreciate the noticeable signal strength and coverage area improvement. The device also supports Wi-Fi 6, a step forward in future-proofing your home network. However, the E3200 isn't without its limitations. While not exorbitant, the price point leans towards the higher end, especially when compared to other extenders in the market that offer similar features. This might deter potential buyers who are looking for a more budget-friendly solution. Another aspect where the E3200 could improve is in the realm of advanced features and customizability. Tech enthusiasts and power users might find the lack of detailed network management tools a bit underwhelming. This isn't a deal-breaker for the average user but is something to consider for those who like to fine-tune their network settings. In conclusion, the Verizon/Fios Wi-Fi Extender E3200 is a solid choice for Fios customers looking to enhance their home network's reach and performance. Its user-friendly setup and reliable performance are its primary selling points, though its price and lack of advanced features might give some users pause. It's a commendable option, albeit with a few areas left for improvement. ... show more

  • This is a case of you get what you pay for
With my FIOS router delivering 300 Mbps I was only getting about 20 Mbps via wifi in a room about 25' from the main router. So I first bought the Paleoer which performed terribly as a Wifi extender, producing only the same 20 Mbps, maybe less, with the Paleoer directly below the desk with a laptop. Then I found others also have had problems with most any extender when trying to do the repeating via a wifi connection. So I ran a Cat 6 ethernet cable directly to the Paleoer, and that boosted my local speed to about 80Mbps, which of course was much better, but then I became curious how much better the $200 FIOS extender would be. Installed same and it delivered, again VIA WIFI, below the desk, the full 300 Mbps. There is another advantage of the FIOS model. If your main router is a FIOS router, with any other extender it will show up as a 2bd WiFi connection such as e.g. FIOS_Ext. So when you walk around your house with your phone, you most often have to switch manually if you want the best connection.. With the Verizon FIOS Extender you stay with one WiFi connection and the switch-off between the main router and extender is automatic. So it's the old story. You get what you pay for. ... show more
