I live on the third floor in my building with no AC and I put this up over my window in hopes that it would give some privacy and help keep it cooler. I can't honestly tell if it helps keep it cooler and I keep a thermometer in my room. It was an absolute pain to put up if your a perfectionist like me. It took me at least 10 tries to put it up as straight as I could get it and it's still not perfect. My advice, DO NOT follow the cutting instructions they provide, just be be careful, measure twice and cut once. For the piece I followed their instructions for, the edge is uneven and jagged and points since even with a brand new, perfectly sharp utility knife it still didn't cut straight. My husband works nights and we still had sunshine peeking through the blackout curtains, so I ordered this to cover our bedroom windows. You cannot see through at all! I love that it was installed with water, so no worry of leftover adhesive if we decide to remove it. I used a plastic card to get out the bubbles and smooth it over the window, then used a box cutter to trim around the edges. Definitely recommend if you want to totally black out some glass. We had some light leakage around the edges because I didn't cut it that precise, but it was such a dramatic improvement to how dark the room got. Summer time, in the upper midwest US, and we were going to bed at 6:30. The sun was up for 3 more hours and at first we just suffered. But then with this cover, BAM, instant dark. Must use water in the application or it doesn't stick. It doesn't really stick to the top of another layer, so if you're lazy, like I was, and it overlaps, you've going to need some tape or something to hold them flat together and keep it from curling off. I bought this for my infant’s room after multiple failed rounds of blackout curtains. This product was easy to install and truly blacks out light. All you do is cut it to size, wet it with soapy water, and apply it to the window. Removing it is easy, and the residue left cleans easily with some Windex. We took this on a trip with our little, and it was nice to be able to provide him with a dark room to sleep, without rigging curtains that don’t really work. Blocks out all light but because of odd and small size of sheet most windows must be pieced 2-3 times. Makes for lots of waste and purchasing of extra rolls. That being said the light outside my window does not keep me up any longer.

I used foil paper (like my mother before me :) ) but decided to get something that not only blocks light but also tones down the heat. I am super happy with how easy it was to install and also to remove them when I decide to move. One roll was good for three windows.

This product caused over $500 in damages to my home windows. All windows are the same brand and installed the same time. This Product attracts too much sun causing my window trim to wilt and come apart my window glass! I now have to replace 2 48x48 windows costing me way more then this product has! Poor poor product.
