This was my first time installing window film, and it definitely requires patience—take it slow. You’ll need to use plenty of soapy water during application, more than you might expect. For larger windows, I’d recommend using a bigger spray bottle than the one provided, as it’s a bit too small. Also, if you’re working with a large area, having a second person to help makes the job much easier. That said, the film went on very well, looks great, and noticeably reduces the amount of heat coming through the window.

The day I put up the Coavas film, the heat wave had already turned the room over the garage into the kind of space you avoid unless absolutely necessary. I walked in, felt that wall of warmth hit me, and thought, okay, this is ridiculous — something has to go on these windows today. The roll looked promising right out of the box. Thick enough to feel sturdy, reflective enough to mean business. And once I held it up to the glass, I realized just how dark it really was. Not a complaint — just one of those moments where you think, I should’ve put this on the top half and used a lighter tint on the bottom. But that’s on me, not the film. Installation was its own little saga. Spray bottle in one hand, squeegee in the other, trying to keep the film from grabbing the glass before I was ready. The static cling made it easier than adhesive films — no glue, no stretching, no panic about bubbles getting trapped forever. It slid around just enough to position it, then locked into place once I pressed it down. The included tools actually helped, which is rare enough to feel like a small victory. By the time I finished smoothing out the last corner, the sun had shifted just enough to hit the window. And that’s when the film showed off. The room didn’t flare up with heat the way it usually does. The air stayed calmer, less aggressive, like the film was holding back the worst of the sun. For a room over the garage in the middle of a heat wave, that’s a big deal. It’s darker than I’d ideally want, but it performs. It cools the room. It doesn’t turn the window into a hot plate. And it’s easy enough to install that I didn’t end the project swearing at the glass. If I redo this window later, I’ll pair this darker film on top with a lighter tint on the bottom — but as far as heat control goes, Coavas earns its spot. Install the blue Coavas film in the bathroom window and it was quite simple. Clean your windows really good. Use and spray plenty of soapy water on the window when installing the film as this is your best friend for the installation. IMO, what I found more challenging is cutting the film along the edge and making the cuts in the corners. Practice on a small window first.

I live in Arizona with a west facing patio door. The afternoon is brutal. I’m trying to cut down on AC expense and also would prefer to keep my window curtains pulled back to see my beautiful Mountain View and sunset. The Good: This works for heat and definitely cuts down on glare. I bought the tea silver. You can literally tell the difference on your skin when you step to direct sunlight and back again, how much it helps. It’s not easy to apply but I managed. The included application tools are very helpful to have. One roll covers HALF of your standard patio slider door. The Bad: I had to buy this in 2 seperate purchases because I’m very poor right now. So I ordered them 2 weeks apart. Exact same color. As you can see from my photo, I did not receive the same color as the first time. They both appear as a rose gold or “tea” but they are definitely not the same. It is what it is. You can even see the difference in my rug with the light shining through. They are rated to be the same but the more yellow cast shadow is for sure slightly less effective. I would suggest buying your rolls all at the same time and maybe this won’t happen to you.
