Description

The Vater brand was officially established in November of 1991, but the Vater family history with drumsticks started decades earlier, in the basement of Boston's legendary Jack's drum Shop. There, Alan and Ron's grandfather jack Adams, hand turned drumsticks for the drummers like Buddy rich as early as 1956. In the early to mid 1980's, the Vater Brothers began producing private- label drumsticks alongside sticks for Vic Firth and Zildjian. A few years of this LED to the brothers deciding to move their business to a new factory in Holbrook mA. Over the past decade, the Vater family and product line has expanded greatly, introducing innovative products such as the splash stick and acoustic, and welcoming renowned drummers like Chad Smith, Stewart Copeland, and Josh freeze. At Vater, our goal is simple. . . To produce the very best drumsticks and percussion accessories in the world.

  • Great for light playing styles
Style: Sugar Maple 7A Wood Tip
I wanted some really light 7A's for jazz or when I'm playing with orchestral instruments and these are it! Slightly lighter than standard Hickory sticks and just as durable.

These sticks are light and I suggest using them for softer songs, not for hard hitters. They are slim with the Vater balance. Remember sticks are as personal to drummers as strings are to guitarists. Being a light stick you have to work it a bit because it wont have the weight as other sticks you find. It is a light and out of the ordinary stick, but very good.. I do a lot of rolling so they work for me if you are a single stroke hitter they may not suit you. But Vaters are top notch as usual. ... show more

  • My favorite stick in a lightened version.
Style: Sugar Maple 7A Wood Tip
My go to stick is the hickory Manhattan 7a. But when I play in a piano, bass, drums trio I use the lighter sugar maple for less volume. The balance of the stick is excellent, its 16 inches in length witch makes it a little longer than most 7a sticks from other manufacturers.

  • Great pair of sticks
Style: Sugar Maple 7A Wood Tip
Great pair of sticks! I like them for practicing. They are a lighter stick and are a bit quieter when played with. They also are a softer wood so be careful, they dent easily if hit on a rim or edge of cymbal.

  • Awesome for playing light
Style: Sugar Maple 7A Wood Tip
During band practice and at smaller gigs, I try to avoid playing with multi-rods whenever possible. These are capable of playing significantly quieter than your typical hickory 5As (a little louder than rods, but feel great).

  • Great sticks
Style: Sugar Maple 5A Wood Tip
Been trying different sticks for a few months now. Of the 5 or 6 o have tried from different manufacturers and woods these by far provide the best balance between sound and durability. Will be 'sticking' with these...;)

  • Maybe maple hates me?
Style: Sugar Maple 5A Wood Tip
Broke after 1.5 Cake songs on an Alesis Nitro Mesh e-kit. I play pretty light, usually can keep a pair going for a few months at least.
