  • Excellent Camera
First off, the for factor/size is second to none. Mounted right along the left side of the rear view mirror it’s unnoticeable. Installation is so easy and love its magnetic quick disconnect base for taking the camera inside for cleaning and updating as well as removing before going to the dealer (many dealers won’t work on a vehicle with a camera) Video quality is excellent day and night. It included circular polarizing filter makes the dash reflection disappear from the video. Something most cameras don’t offer. Control via cell phone is very simple as well as system software upgrades and video review. It’s nice having the 1” display for menu option changes in the car. Great deal on this on Prime day. It’s coming up soon and I’ll be buying another for another vehicle or for a rear camera. Can’t go wrong for $100. *Note- Just as everyone reports, it runs really hot and did burn up the first mem card I bought in about 4 months. Replaced it with an extra high temp/rough duty card. Good so far past 4 months. ... show more

  • This is a great dash camera
This is the third one of these that I have purchased. There are two real parts of the install. One is mounting the camera to the windshield, and the second is running the wiring for power to the camera. The camera is really in two parts. The main camera which is a small cube, and an adapter that sticks to the windshield and holds the camera in place. In the box you get a clear sheet that looks like a screen protector that you are supposed to stick to the windshield and you stick the camera to that. After trying this once, either I didn't do it right or it didn't work right. The camera fell off. So I now leave that stuff in the box and stick the mount directly to the glass. (Be sure to clean the glass first). This works well. You do need as Micro-SD card to capture the images. The app needs to be downloaded to see the clips captured but you can also remove the Micro-SD and look at them on a computer or whatever. Unless you just plug in the cable to the camera and drape the wire down to the power port in your car, wiring is more of a problem than sticking the camera to the windshield. The cable with the camera is a usb-c on the camera end and what was called the cigarette lighter plug in the other end. If your car only has USB A or C connectors, you will need to purchase a separate cable. A small tool is provided to lift up trim parts on the car to slide the cable underneath to make it look nice. On some cars (Like my Jeep Wrangler) this is very easy to do. The others were installed on Kia and Hyundai cars which seem to be be build much tighter fits, and were a real pain. The level of difficulty will depend on your car and how hidden you want the cable to be. The camera works well and has an excellent picture quality. If you don't want it recording your conversations in the car, you can mute the microphone. It records in a loop, so older clips get erased when the memory card is full. You should also format the card on a regular basis. How much video you can keep depends on the size of the card you purchase. The only other comment I have is that it does get hot. ... show more

  • manufacturing defect - updates
I have used it for about 2.5 months so far. Then all of sudden, the back dash cam cover feel apart. I found it on the floor of my car and tried to put back, but it didn't work. It should cover the back screen and other internal part of the dash cam. It is gone now and dash cam barely works, but not sure how long it can stay like that. I tried to contact the manufacturer, but no response so far. very disappointed. Updates: As soon as I contacted Vantrue, they replied and are in progress to figure things out for me. So I revised my review. Once I hear from Vantrue for the resolution, I will update again. By the way, I like the size and functions of this dash cam and customer service is there to help, I ordered another one for my other car. I will see how this new unit works for me soon. Updates 2: Well... the second unit came in and installed another car. A few days later, I found the back screen was broken again. I found this unit made a lot of heat when it was in use. It was almost untouchable, due to the enormous heat. I think the back screen was broken by the heat. Anyway, second unit will be returned to Amazon. The first one is still in progress of replacing by the manufacturer, but the whole process has been very slow. I don't think I can recommend it anymore, even though I liked the size and video quality. ... show more

  • As good a small dash cam as you can get but is not for non tech types
Impressed! Having tried a competitive product with a big name and it was a train wreck. Same price point. This is a nice presentation, well laid out, app works well and video is kinda easy to get out, on par for what they are all like as for the retrieval process. It’s small enough to be unobtrusive, works as it should, provides decent video, and while I haven’t tried it at night I expect it’ll be on par with others. The polarizer lens helps provide decent video. The cable is long enough without much extra leftover installed in a 2025 GMC Acadia. Having a screen and buttons, while small, is helpful, more helpful than I thought. The really strange and amazing thing is this new idea of using static film (think old cheap phone screen protector) to attach to windshield, then apply the 3m double sticky tape to the film. It allows you to simply remove the film and the mount stays with the film. Says it can be reapplied because it’s not adhesive it’s electrostatically attached to the glass. Yeah I know but it works quite well and I have no idea why. It should just fall off but it doesn’t. I bought a 256gb high impact micro sd card and it works well. There are many settings from flipping image upside down, exposure setting, I can’t list them all but all you’ll need to set it and forget it. I found a remote control to automatically mark a video if seeing an incident although it has voice command built in to do the same thing. Voice stuff seemed a bit sensitive or touchy plus means your interior conversations will be recorded with the video which I don’t want. I turned off the mic and will use the remote to mark anything important for later download. All of these dashcams have an obstacle with reviewing and extracting video. Frankly it’s hokey and time consuming. Why? You have to connect to the dash cams built in WiFi card but the cam doesn’t connect to real WiFi. It’s done this way to speed up review and extracting video vs. Bluetooth. And once you find the clip you have to save it to the non live sd card spot and then sync with your phones photo program. So not for the non technical person. You can also connect this to your computer and get video that way, and with the magnetic mount that’s not too difficult but it’s more work than necessary for what you’ll probably hopefully never need. These cams are like an insurance policy for the worse case scenario. I understand it’s a lot of video to comb through, and it’s the underlying issue as best as I can tell. Upgrading to a faster WiFi card would help I guess but it’s a small package to fit everything into. Eventually someone will figure out the connection and extraction issues but until then I’ll say this is probably as good a unit as you’ll find at this price point. Also note, if you have wireless CarPlay, you’ll have to turn that off so you can connect to the dashcam. Why? You can only use one WiFi connection at a time and CarPlay uses WiFi to do that, and so does the camera (WiFi card in cam). If I could ask for anything more it would be a more streamlined way to review and extracting video. This is a set and forget kind of device not like looking at home security cam footage. ... show more

  • Just finished the install
Installation was easy, most difficult part is running the wire from the camera to the outlet. This device uses a cigarette lighter style connector with only about 8' of cord (There is no USB cord and there may not be enough power from your vehicle's USB outlet anyway). Running the power cord is the most challenging install regardless of the camera you purchase. Here is something to keep in mind with the Vantrue, there are adapters that allow you to power this camera by using the rear view mirror (and the adapters are relatively cheap). Amazon lists the available adapters that will work with certain vehicles. Anyway, I did my install before realizing these are available, and they will only work with mirrors that have power (auto dimming). The screen is very small, by design but the VanTrue app allows you to see what the camera sees on your phone, plus you can fully program the device using the app and its built-in wifi. You have several options for video quality but 4K provides a really good quality picture. Just remember, the better the resolution, the more space it requires on your SD card.. The previous dash cam we had included a rear camera which was nice but required additional wiring the full length of the vehicle. If we miss the rear camera, I'm just going to purchase another E1 Pro and power it from the cigarette lighter outlet in the rear of our vehicle. These dash cams have gone up in price but they are still one of the best featured dash cams you can buy. ... show more

  • Solid Dash Cam
Where do you begin picking a dash cam with so many types...and reviews. Overwhelmed by the options - the pros and cons list came out. I selected this Vantrue E1 Pro 4k Mini Dash Cam and hit the roads. Right out of the box I knew I made the right choice. Delivered fast and packaged well. HINT: keep the inner product packaging as it makes a convenient protected storage box for the included extras not in use AND use the recommended SD card type!!! #1 - The product itself is the perfect size and doesn't get in the way or distracting when driving. The added benefit of the longer power cord is awesome and fits within the dash crevices, barely noticeable when using the clips included. I didn't find the cord too short or too long at all. Unser manual made it easy to understand instillation without you reading it and asking yourself "what did I just read?" Once plugged into the cigarette lighter it was good to go in under 5 minutes. I had no problems with WiFi connection so maybe some reviewers had spotty connections? I also tried the alternative usb cord and both gave the same results, no lag or pixelated images/videos. I am using the Vantrue SD card for combability AS RECOMMENDED IN THE MANUAL, found no issues with errors or formatting or recording. The dash cam has a nice heft, not cheap or plastic like others. When mounted it remains stable and didn't wobble or shake when driving, even on the gravel road by my house. I wear progressive lens glasses and the display screen is very, very clear!. Icons are easy to distinguish and navigate. Driving in direct sunlight the camera was without reflection using the included lens. I see results exactly clear like on the product listing. Night time I have no diminished clarity for phots or recording. The low night vision setting makes viewing much lighter in very dark roads. Reviewing the playback on my phone is super slick. BONUS- I used it to help "teach" a new driver in the house on some driving mistakes. Bottom line I am happy with my purchase and will buy again for the 2nd vehicle. ... show more

  • Finicky install
Note: this review is based entirely on the form factor, and installation process (so far). My first attempt at install failed - the electrostatic sticker peeled off within hours. I did clean the windshield as prescribed but I think my mistakes (none of which are listed in their instructions) included 1. overlapping a corner of the electrostatic sticker with the "bumpy" part of the windshield 2. not giving the sticker or mount time to "cure" before attaching the (somewhat heavy) camera 3. Not placing the mount dead center of the electrostatic sticker. They did provide a second set of stickers so I'm trying again. We will see how try 2 goes. As far as the form factor... it does have a tiny screen, which is useful for lining it up during install but I doubt will ever be used again except for when trying to operate the menu. It is a lot heavier/bulkier than the other dash cams I have. I also don't like that it only can adjust tilt - the other ones I have are universal ball joints so you can recenter them left to right. So, I don't hate it (yet), but I'd say my Garmin ones were much easier to install and have some other advantages. ... show more

  • Wow, NICE QUALITY, great Cam!
I purchased this with my own money. I’m not getting paid nor have I been asked to write this review by anyone. I love this dash cam, I had searched too far and wide for a dash cam that was tiny, but had full features and this one did not disappoint. First thing opening the box you noticed that this is a quality product, it does not disappoint. Product comes well, wrapped and well protected in a beautiful box and everything was in place where it should’ve been. Good straightforward directions, easy to understand and follow. The images on this were crystal clear and just as good if not better than the other five or six 4K dash cams I have ordered, I have not gotten to test it at night yet, but when I do, I will update the review. Connection to my vehicle when as expected, unit power powered up without problems, and was easy to navigate, even though the screen was small. Everything works precisely as it should, the buttons are high-quality, they give good tactile feedback when you press them, the hinge joint moves smoothly, the power button is easily identifiable. It is a bright orange, and the memory card insert and ejects with ease. The first thing you notice, this is a beautiful, but prominent lens, this lens also comes with a filter, which in my experience is unheard of, but not only does it filter the images for more clarity I believe in sunlight, but it should also serve to protect the inner lens. The display is absolutely beautiful, it’s very small, but very clear, the touchscreen works perfectly, very impressive. The voice command/controls worked without problems, you should read the directions for this and make sure that it is enabled in the set up. The app works outstanding! I have owned four or five dash cams, and the apps were always the weak point. However, this app works extremely well in all the functions. I would 100% recommend this, especially if you can get it on sale but even still, it is an absolute bargain even at the regular price. A lot of these desk cams have so so quality, or even when the dash cam itself works great, the software is really horrible, that’s not the case here both the software and the hardware are working in unison and it’s actually a pleasure to use this. I want to again just say that the build and the quality of this are absolutely excellent. The unit has a little bit of heft to it, but that’s your assurance that it’s high quality… actually, it’s beautiful! Somebody really put a lot of thought and execution into, it’s very rare that I gush over something this much but it really is a beautiful piece of equipment! I will review an update this once I’ve gotten to know the unit a little better but for now, it’s awesome! ... show more
