I bought the Hawke Vantage despite a plethora of competitive products with similar specs and pricing. My application was sighting a rifle @ 100 yards. The things that swayed me to try it first were the hard case and slight advantage in magnification it had over other options (72 vs 60). The scope is well built and has a really nice hard case which is worth some coin all by itself. I set it up and did some testing at ~125 yards with a rifle target but was disappointed in the image quality. I figured it was what I should expect at this price point. However, I did some more research and decided to buy a competitive product for direct comparison. I compared the Hawke Vantage with BK-7 optics to brand X with BAK4 optics. The latter had a max of 60x magnification. The attached images show pics taken with my iPhone 8 using a phone mount. Both scopes and the camera were at max zoom. The washed-out image is the Hawke Vantage at 72x. The other is Brand X at 60x. The roof peak in the pic is about 75 yards away. This sealed the deal for me. The Vantage was great in all respects except for the one that mattered most, the quality of the optics. I’m gonna miss that hard case… ☹ ... show more
