  • Great look and price!
Weight: 30.0 Grams
I love to putt with a heavy putter! One of my biggest trepidation with buying a Scotty was getting a lighter putter than the Odyssey 2-Ball with a CounterCore Slim Grip I was working with before. I understand he wants a certain feel to his putters and wants to keep a certain weight to them. However, I've paid a good amount of cash for his putter and would like to customize it to my liking. To that end, I went online to the official Scotty Cameron website and was floored by the prices for Sole Weight Customization Kit ($154)- which includes the removal tool priced at $48 if you were to buy it separately. So, the set of 6 weights- 2-10s, 2-15's, and 2-20s-runs you about $106 if you subtract the $48 for the tool(socket). Mind you, we haven't added up the tax and shipping cost to the $154. That same set up here runs you $46 (plus a few more bucks for tax) AND you get 3 wrench tools to go along with it. Save yourself the $108. I bought a set of 30s and 35s, which are not available at all at the official website since he caps his weights at 20. Again, I'd like the freedom to customize to my preference and a heavy putter is what I like. As you can see in the pictures, the red looks good and matches with the classic three cherry dots on the back of the putter. For those that only have two weights to change the CounterCore Grip runs for $32 and can add more weight to your putter if you don't have the four slots like the Futura 6M. As to changing the weights I wanted to avoid the possibility of rust so I didn't dip the putter into hot water. Two of the weight came off easily while the other two took some elbow grease. Since I got two wrenches, I didn't mind banging one up. I held it tightly into the slot with on hand and carefully hit one side of the "T" on the top of the wrench with a hammer. The weight gave after a few hits and I took it off as I did the others. All the weights sit flush and the wrench didn't bend or look funky like some of the pictures. That was user error for sure. I took a hammer to the wrench and all 5 pins look fine but one side of the "T" looks banged up, as is to be expected after using a hammer on it. I hope this was helpful for anyone on the fence about this product. ... show more

  • This tool worked as advertised
Weight: 20.0 Grams
The original weights in my putter were in very tight, but this tool did its job as advertised. I would give it five stars, but its design does not afford much leverage. What I needed to do was put the tool in my vise and use the putter head for leverage. From now on, this tool will work perfectly to change weights, if needed. I would recommend using the type of tool used on a ratchet wrench to remove original weights from a Scotty putter, it has more leverage. After that, this tool works great. ... show more

  • Utility of this Tool
Weight: 35.0 Grams
The tool is not very useful on its own without first doing something to break the thread locker (e.g. Loctite) that was used when the weights were initially installed. The force required to break the thread locker is probably in the range of 50-60 lbs (my guess as I don't know what thread locker Titleist used when installing this weights at their factory). The handle on the tool extends 1" beyond the center shaft - making the amount of force required to be placed on the end of that handle the same as is required to break the thread locker...so there is essentially no mechanical advantage offered by this tool. Compounding this is that the prongs on the working end of the tool are very short and it is difficult to apply even moderate force to the tool and keep the prongs engaged in the holes in the weight. When applying force to the tool it would tilt just enough to allow the prongs to slip out of the weight notches and risk scratching the putter with the prong ends. I eventually had to place the putter head into boiling water for about 30 -45 seconds to allow the heat to expand the putter metal and break the thread locker chemical bond. Once broken, I could then use the tool to fully loosen and remove/replace the weights. This tool could be improved by eliminating the handles that extend from the main shaft altogether and making the main shaft end like a socket so that a 1/4" or 3/8" ratchet could be used to apply the leverage needed to break the weights free. ... show more

I purchased these weights to install them iny Scotty Cameron Newport 2.5 Perfect fit The added weight really helps with the 3-6ft knee knockers. More weight, less backswing. Stay on my line

  • Did the job for me!
Weight: 20.0 Grams
I was a little concerned reading some of the reviews that I might have a hard time removing the weights from my Scotty Cameron 2018 Newport putter. Mine is 35 inches in length and came with two 10 gram weights. I like heavier putters so since the price was reasonable, I thought it was worth a shot. I carefully fully inserted the wrench into the installed weights and made sure to keep steady pressure on the wrench and the 10 gram weights came right out without any problem and had absolutely no scratches to the putter. Put the 2 new 20 gram weights in and they fit nice and flush. Definitely recommend these if you want to experiment with different weights of your Scotty putter. ... show more
