My old car pump was on it’s last legs. Took it a few minutes to put in 5 PSI of pressure into 1 tire. That’s not even including the fact that the internal gauge was off by about 10 PSI so it needed constant monitoring to get it about where I needed it to be. Needless to say, it was time for a replacement. I took a look at quite a few pumps and this one seemed to fit what I needed. My only misgiving was that some reviews stated that the power cord was too short for a full sized SUV (which I have). Misgivings were laid to rest though upon first use. The power cord was more than long enough to reach all my tires comfortably. I think that if you had a long bed truck, it might have a hard time reaching the back tires. If you have a raised vehicle with over-sized tires, it’d also have a hard time reaching the back tires. Either of those instances would be negated if your vehicle has somewhere to plug in the pump in the bed/rear area of course. Fill time was quick. It took less than 30 secs for 5 PSI for 1 tire. Noise level was better than my old pump, but still noticeable from about 30 yards or so. Not enough to make you think it’s WWIII, but it’d definitely wake you up. My only issue is with the hole for the power/start button. The hole is a little small. Not a deal breaker though. I have large hands so I ended up having to use my pinky finger to depress it enough so that it’d engage. I can see some looking at that as a bonus feature as it would definitely prevent accidental on’s. You could also easily use the back of a pen/pencil or even your old tire pressure gauge.

The VacLife Air Compressor Model: ATJ-1166 is an upgrade to a VacLife previous model purchased a few years ago. The design of the hose and housing compartment after years of use, folding the hose and storing it caused the hose to let out the air around the bent areas, it was inoperable and needed a replacement. FAST!!! Hopped on Amazon to reorder the item but it was no longer available. In all these years working with this company, they have always given me the best customer service which is why I returned to VacLife wanting to repurchase the item. I was elated to find that they had a newer model and ended up buying it. The shipping came at lightning speed and was at my home within 18 hours, which came just in time as my low tire sensor light came on the same day of purchase, and needed to head out to church in the morning. The older model was perfect! Because of the chrome wheels, I would lose air in my tires more than I wanted to so having the tire compressor came in handy. The peace of mind it gave me knowing I had this for emergencies was beyond measure. I wasn't sure if the newer model would at all compare to the previous model but it sure did and then some! It inflated my tires in seconds, faster than the one I had before. The auto shut-off worked like a charm, it shut off automatically even when I did not properly program the desired psi. The older model did the same. And, not worried at all about over-inflating either. The cord was a concern for me considering that was the reason why I was buying a new one. The hose design was definitely reworked into a better more stylized & durable material. There was also NO BEND to the hose. It was thicker too. No compromise on the sleekness of the hose, it just felt more sturdy. The LED light was repositioned on the new model which helps tremendously when inflating at night. It came with additional nozzles which I need for filling up air in our bikes, which I ended up doing before it got dark, and all our sports balls too. The previous VacLife model came with a yellow sticker that showed quick instructions on how to use the tire compressor. I liked having that at a glance should I have any soccer moms wanting to borrow the tire compressor again which they have, many times however, the sticker did not come on the new model. I removed the sticker from the older one and placed it on the newer model. I also noticed that the cord on the newer model was not as long as the previous model but still a perfect distance from the 12V DC to my tires. The reason why I mentioned this is that I had to position the bikes closer to the car than usual but I am not complaining, the VacLife Air Compressor Model: ATJ-1166 has been a life-saver, and knowing I can not only really on such an incredible product year after year, I know that VacLife company will always make sure that I am a happy and fully-satisfied customer!

I needed a way to fill my tires conveniently, since I'm a Lyft driver and there are times when getting to a Wawa air pump or something similar isn't practical. This device is compact enough to keep in the floor compartment in the rear of my Kia Soul hatchback, and plugs directly into the car's circular charging ports to run. If run for an extended period of time, it apparently gets quite warm, but unless a tire has lost entirely too much pressure, it should never come to that; and if it does, simply letting it cool down for a while before continuing use will be enough. For routine tire-pressure maintenance, it's perfect. It does make a fair bit of noise, so one might not want to use it, say, late at night or in the early-morning hours in a suburban neighborhood. But it's also not too loud, either. The pressure display seems accurate enough, but can sometimes take a few seconds to get a precise read on the tire. The only real complaint I have is that chord length is just enough to get at the tires on both sides of my car, so long as it is run out of the correct side and you take care not to let it get hooked on the gear-shift or seat-corners. It could have done with a bit more leeway, and I'm not sure how comfortably it would work with a larger vehicle, such as a truck.

So I drive a lot for gig work for extra money so me and tires have a long running beef… sometimes they send me out in the boonies and I like to have full tires. Sometimes there are mountains (in in AZ) or unpaved roads/farm land. I would need to fill my tires sometimes and looking for a gas station is horrible out there (shifts can start as early as 4am). It’s also expensive over time and they don’t work a lot so you can waste a lot of time finding one. Having this just in my trunk is amazing. I pull over somewhere safe and plug it in. I can fill my tires anywhere I am. I hook it up and turn it on then get back in my car and lock the doors… safety first. It fills automatically to my selected PSI and then turns itself off. I get out and unhook and I’m on my way. It doesn’t take too long in my opinion. Only con is the sound is pretty loud but tolerable. Overall it’s made me feel safer and more prepared. I plan on getting one for my mom and my sons car.
