Amended 12-4-2024: I did not use this tire inflator for many months after first use which was right on the money. On the second try the trigger switch and/or the pressure regulator malfunctioned and I could not control off/on nor tire pressure without disconnecting the power source. I contacted the vendor through the Amazon web page and email address provided. They were very responsive and cheerfully helpful, and replaced the tool which so far works fine, though no tires have been inflated yet. I would point out something I missed until contacting the vendor through the Amazon website. You can activate your warranty through the support link on this tool's page. Still 5-star. Original Review: I was so tired of chasing down air pumps when the tire pressure warning light comes on every spring and fall I started a long search for a portable air pump. People sang the praises of the small little glove-box size pumps, but if you read enough reviews, you learn they heat up, take quite a while to pump, and battery life is short. After several months off and on, this Avid product popped up in an internet search. I found it had very good ratings from multiple independent tests, as well as buyers. The more I read the tech info and buyer comments, this one stood out as a good risk. Not tiny, but alotta horsepower for the job. It arrived on time as advertised. I charged up the battery as prescribed, but didn't try it out. Then I bought a new set of tires for one of our cars and discovered all the tires overfilled with air as opposed to the model specification limits on the auto's doorframe. I attempted to drain just enough air to meat the design specs, but that never goes as planned, all four tires now too low. I got this pump out and in literal seconds each tire was filled to the specified pressure and the pump shut off. Magic! I verified the correct pressure with my separate tire gauge. One small detail of note -- the included bag for the pump and accessories is a big deal, a touch of added class. I can't yet speak to the long term service of this valuable tool, but for sure it put a smile on my face, worth the extended product search process and modest price.

I got this tire inflator mainly to use at autocross events where being able to quickly adjust tire pressures between runs is a huge advantage over your typical tire inflators that need to be plugged into a 12v outlet in the car to work. Having to plug the inflator in and then deal with feeding the power wire through the door on each side as you move around the car is a bit of a pain, especially if you don’t have a lot of time. This inflator resembles a cordless drill but instead of the drill chuck on the tip it has a flexible air hose. The hose has a quick attachment lever so you can push it down over your car tire’s valve stem, flip the lever, and begin filling. No need to screw on the hose like many other inflators. The inflator comes with a nice fabric storage case that holds the inflator itself (with 20V battery attached), the AC charger for the battery, a “fake” battery that stores a 12v plug and cable so you can power the inflator from your car if the battery has run out, and the instructions. The battery has a button to display the charge level when not installed in the inflator and also has a USB-A port that you can use to charge things like your cell phone right from the battery. In addition to car tires you can also use the inflator to add air to sports balls that use a pin, air mattresses or other inflatables, and bike tires. Adapters for each of these things are included and there is even a little storage area on the top of the inflator itself so you can keep the adapters with it. I hate sportsball, air mattresses, and bikes, so I just leave those adapters in the case with the instructions since I’ll never use them. To use the unit you first charge up the battery using the included AC adapter, then snap the battery onto the bottom of the main handle. The rear of the unit has a small display with buttons to turn it on and off, change the units of measure, and to raise and lower the pressure setting. Simply press the on/off button, then press it again if you need to switch between the various measurement units (PSI, BAR, KPA, and KG/CM are available). If you connect the unit to your tire at this point it will display the current pressure of the tire. If you need to add air you press the up and down buttons until the pressure you want is shown in the display. Then squeeze the trigger once and the compressor will turn on (there’s also a little light on the bottom of the unit to give you a little illumination if it’s dark outside. It will fill the tire to the selected pressure and then automatically turn off. Very convenient. The pressure setting is retained after use so you can quickly move around your car and inflate all your tires to the same pressure without having to manually watch the display and turn off the unit when it reaches the pressure you want. I did notice that my particular unit tends to fill the tire to be about 2 PSI higher than the display setting. So when I want to fill my tires to 30 PSI I set the unit to 28.5. It then will end up filling them to about 30.5 PSI. Removing the hose tends to release a little pressure and then I use a separate dial pressure gauge with a bleeder valve to bleed off the remaining overage until I’m right at 30. The case is large enough that I can also toss my dial pressure gauge (not included) in to the bag and have everything I need together. So far this inflator is working very well. I can typically add a few PSI to each tire and the battery will still show a full charge. So much so that the wall charger won’t even charge it until I run it down some more. So I suspect this would have plenty of charge to refill a flat tire if needed. I typically carry a Viair inflator in my cars as that brand has been very reliable for me over the years. It remains to be seen if this particular unit will be reliable long-term, so for now I may carry both inflators on any longer trips, just in case. For speed and ease of use though this Avid Power model is much better than any corded inflators.

Call me very happy. I had just returned two Airmoto (cute little small unit, but was totally useless. it had taken over 3.5 min., to put 4.5 lbs of air into car tire, before it started taking air OUT of the tire, and the hose turning very warm! ) units, due to the unit failing miserably in attempting to inflate my car tire. For this AVID power portable unit I had researched many product review sites, where it had received a top rating. I just used it to pump up a flat bicycle tire from 0 to 40 PSI, which it did in less than 1.5 minutes. It inflated the 2nd tire from 23 PSI to 40 PSI in just about 30 seconds or so. The battery indicator was still showing 'full' after the 2nd tire. Yes, I know, difference between a car tire and a bicycle tire, for inflation purposes. With how I saw it handle my bike tires, I see zero reason why it cannot handle my car tires, for a PSI of 35. I had purchased two, one for each car, and had purchased a third for a X'mas gift. Oh yeah, I bought a spare battery too, only because of experience with battery operated tools where the battery dies. I like 'backup'. So, would I recommend this pump, yes, I would. BTW, if you are wondering, yes, the unit will display the current PSI of your tire, providing you do not do something stupid, like I did. I clamped the hose on and had a reading of ZERO, even though the tire was pumped up. I fussed about not having a reading, and proceeded to pump the tire up to 40 PSI. The unit would not work! I started ranting about my luck getting ANOTHER bad pump. I stopped and put everything back in the box, preparing to write a sizzling hot bad review on the pump. I then though about something, and went back to check my thought out. I found that yes, I had clamped the hose on, BUT, I had not pressed on the clamp so that it went down and made contact with the valve in the tire stem. I pressed on the clamp, heard the air hissing, and new I had contact, and I clamped down. I immediately had a PSI reading on the screen, and proceeded with pumping up, with no issue. Basically simply, no contact with valve, no PSI reading AND the pump will not work, as it is not connected to the tire stem. 100% user fault at that point. UPDATE: I received the 2nd unit, of my three unit order two days ago. I just opened the box and was prepared to put the unit into my car, after testing it. I noticed a number written on the bottom of the carrying case, in white, which stood out on the dark case. My guesstimate being that this unit was a previously returned unit, which someone had numbered, for whatever reason, and then returned, with the returned unit being sold again, as new, with the white number on the case. I returned it and purchased another unit.

Since I’m home with the kids most days, I wanted something I could use without digging out our old corded pump. I saw this online and ordered it for keeping in the car. Last week, one tire looked low before school pickup, so I brought the inflator outside and topped it up. I set the target on the digital gauge, attached the hose, and let the auto shut-off do its job. The cordless battery made it easy to move around, and I like having the 12V adapter as a backup. It’s straightforward to use, even while the kids ask questions beside me. I’m glad I bought it because I caught that low tire before we headed out.

The product is great, I ordered because it holds a 28k 4 star rating. The battery life is short if continuously used, I used it to bring pressure up to 35 psi in 4 tires from 20 psi and that pretty much drained the battery life. I had to plug in the dc wire to finish balancing pressure. The inflator is totally efficient and serves as needed.

Finally got tired of going to gas stations to top off my tires. I was originally going to purchase a much smaller tire inflator - liked the thought of storing it in the glove box. But, logically a device that’s about the size of a rechargeable battery would be far less powerful than a free-standing device equipped with a 20V rechargeable battery. I purchased the Avid after reading a recommendation in a car magazine. (Not a deciding factor, but appreciate that it comes in pink.) I had a silly issue the 1st time I wanted to use it — couldn’t figure out how to install the battery. Turns out that the 12V adapter was already attached. It has to be removed before the battery can be attached. Once I figured that out, using the compressor was intuitive. The hose attaches and detaches from the car tire quickly, not letting air escape. Using the pump is so simple, and it shuts off automatically. It took just a few minutes to get two low tires up to the needed psi. I love that it has both a battery & 12V adapter, and it comes with a functional storage bag. I’m very pleased with this purchase.
