  • In short, MEH!
Style: Caribou Outfitter - 18 Inch
The price is less than what I paid for it originally, the quality is decent, set up and take down is good. The pipes themselves have to be tapped on the ground to get them apart but they do come apart just turn and tap then try to twist (always works). Ventilation, this stove has to have the door open to burn, unless you make bigger holes there’s no way around it. Does it get the job done? Yes but you should have adequate ventilation. It’s perfect for a hot tent but other than that no. I wouldn’t use this for any weather under 40° unless you want to have someone constantly guarding the fire. It’s compact, easy to use, easy to assemble, the pipe is the only part that takes effort in take down and it’s easy to clean out. Spend the extra money if you want a 4 season stove. Good deal for the money. ... show more

  • Strong but Not a great tent stove
Style: Caribou Outfitter - 18 Inch
CONS- Not a very good stove. Poor ventilation on tent stove causes chimney pipe to fill with smoke thus smoking out the fire. Poor ventilation also leads to not enough oxygen getting to the fire thus putting in out or just not burning. I would have to leave the door cracked open to create an oxygen vacuum for the fire. Which is a bad safety hazard for your tent. I’m going on a hunting trip and I’ll tell ya I’m definitely not happy about buying this stove anymore. It’s crap, unsafe, flue pipe NOT TIGHT FITTING, should come with joint clamps and tie down anchor points on the pipe for the wind but does not. More unstable than a dead tree with the wind blowing. I had to hold the pipe with welding glove and it wasn’t too hot because the fire won’t burn. Pros- strong, ease of use, 18 in, carry bag fits good in back sit of truck. That’s it ... show more

  • Be aware.. this is SMALL!!
Style: Caribou Outfitter - 18 Inch
Overall, this is well built and the materials are thick. The chimney pipes are a nice steel and seem like they would last a while. My biggest issue... this thing is small!! I knew it would be small and its meant to be small... but I didn’t expect it to be THAT small - the entire stove comes in a bag that holds everything and that bag can fit into a 5 gallon bucket. At its lowest height with legs attached is less than 17” - the door is nice but very small making it difficult to stack logs and get this thing started. It runs well but when you close the door damper anymore than half way, the fire goes out. Overall... this would probably be nice for a very small area 8x8 max and that may be too big. I liked it but after 1 burn... i had to return it. Just too small for my liking but it is well built. Just understand what you are buying (I thought I did but I underestimated the actual size. I am going to look into a larger one from the “chef’s.” The racks leave more to be desired. They are 4.5” wide and only about 14” long. Not really drying racks that would be super useful. I wanted to like this and I gave it a shot but it’s just not for me. I can see using this for a small tent or ice fishing shack. Here are some dimensions from the manufacturer website: Dimensions: 17-1/4 inches long, 9-4/5 inches wide (19-1/3 inches with grates) and 16-1/2 inches tall (23 inches with legs extended) Can use wood up to 16-1/2 inches long and 4 inches in diameter Door opening is 5-3/4 inches x 4-1/2 inches Easy setup and only takes a few minutes Firebox measures 16-3/4 inches long, 9 inches wide and 7-1/2 inches tall ... show more

  • It leaks.
Style: Caribou Outfitter - 18 Inch
When open the box the only part that disappointed me was the top chimney pipe, it was bent so I could not attach it to the rest. The door hinge was weak and when closed, the door was not aligned. I used firestarter and I collect dead branches on the ground. Wood was not of quality and a little wet, that make a lot of smoke. I use the last defect pipe with the top cap removed so I can blow air into the chamber. After 2 hours of burning, i can see fire through a little gap at the base of the chimney when the sunlight was gone. The welder was missing or the chimney base cracked with the heat. I may keep it and re-welder the chimney base. ... show more

  • Absolute Junk!
Style: Caribou Outfitter - 18 Inch
Only thing good about this woodstove is the portability. Otherwise it’s a waste of money. Won’t burn wood, smoke just bellows out when you open the door, and the piping doesn’t come apart after one use. Tried drilling holes in the back for more air flow, extending the stove pipe, had a small fire, big fire, and the flames still get smothered out. My guess is the tiny stove pipe (only 2” dia.) is the problem. I’d recommend a different stove. ... show more

  • Don’t recommend
Style: Caribou Outfitter - 18 Inch
This is a great little stove, 18” long and chimney pipe is 2” I’ve included pictures next to a 5 gallon bucket for size references Edit: Stove is still good. I just have a heck of a time getting the stove pipes apart after use. After EVERY USE! Edit again: pipes permanently stuck together. I have two sets of two pipe(4 total pipe) stuck together and won’t come apart. The pipe size I believe is too small or it needs better air flow or both. ... show more
