I use these to combat the wind when lighting up. Having be one fed up with the usual Bic lighters and cheap torches that only seem to last through a fill up up two, I did some research. Torch lighters actually require a little maintenance to ensure longevity. When empty, turn it down as far as possible. Using a hair pin or something equally long and skinny, press down on the fill nozzle until it is barely releasing air. Then using a quality butane, shake the can once then press the tip of the butane onto the nozzle of the torch, tilt slightly and press, filling until it shoots back out. LOL. THEN, let it warm to room temperature. Turn it to about midway flame and press it on a few times, but not quickly. If it still won't light, turn up a tiny bit more. Repeat until you get the size flame you prefer. After a few times of releasing the air, you'll be able to stop doing that. But always turn to the lowest setting when filling and warm it up. Works as intended. These are pretty efficient on the butane, an are far an away better than those cheap butane lighters you find in gas stations or on the impulse buy at the grocery or parts store. Lights every time. I have bad luck with butane lighters. Some will last a week, sometimes maybe two, but they always give up an are more expensive in the long run than a disposable. These are going strong after a few years. In fact, the ones I just purchased are for my 3D printer toolbox if I need them in a pinch at the airfield. I heat our house with a wood stove and used one of the 2 lighters daily. They’re like a small torch and work great. I won’t ever buy any of those cheap lights form Home Deport or Lowe’s anymore! Likes dependable, fast and torches things quickly. Biggest like - It’s refillable and won’t end up in a landfill only to save you money. Dislikes- They are delivered to your house without any fuel. Clean solid built little torches no misaligned parts or crooked screws like many inexpensive items. They light well and burn a clean solid flame. The only thing I didn't realize was they only stay lit as long as you hold the slider, great for safety and since they aren't for extended constant use I just wasn't used to or expecting that since other stayed on until you slide the slider back. Great for those who have difficulties clicking down a regular type of torch, as with this one, you push up the button to light. This doesn’t have a safety lock, and would be easy for kids to light, once they figured it out. Also doesn’t have a lock, to make it stay lit, if that’s something you look for in a torch. Really surprised me how nice they are..I think I paid $8.50 for the pair, they work great ! The flame is adjustable and powerful, they start first click every time ! I recommend a good quality butane be used, I used Ronson premium butane and it filled easily.
