  • Preventing the Itchy Phase like nothing else
I have been forever looking for something that will prevent the itchy phase of new tattoo healing. For me, the itchy, healing skin is the absolute worst part of tattoos. I guess I just am prone to have it worse than many folks (my husband is not a victim to itchy skin after tattoos - no fair!). I typically would have 4-6 days of just excruciating and relentless itching that would make me want to claw the tattoo right off of myself. I tried some of the more popular ointments that are specifically marketed for tattoos. I have also tried things like plain old Aquaphor, Eucerin, and Gold Bond. Ointment, salves, lotions, you name it - tried them all. I tried the method of using tons of ointment and wrapping with plastic to keep it super saturated. Nothing prevented the itchy phase for me, so I just accepted it as a part of my particular tattoo healing experience. Also important to note that nothing prevented itching or did anything to actually help treat it once it started. So I could soak my healing ink in whatever product I was attempting and the itch just persisted anyway. Insert Tattoo Skin Silk. I am shocked to be able to write this review and say this product has prevented 90% of the itching from starting in the first place. If that slight, remaining 10% sneaks in, I apply more and it goes away pretty quickly. Last night sitting on the couch I noticed I was starting to feel some itchiness coming on. Soon after that, I got ready for bed and applied more Tattoo Skin Silk. By the time I was laying in bed, I noticed I wasn't itching at all!! I really sort of couldn't believe it to be true. Woke up and still - not itching! Applied more for my work day and hours later - still not itching. Normally this far into my work day, I would have reapplied a competing ointment/salve already and still be itching. The consistency and smell are all fine to me - seen some reviews maybe complain about one of those things. The first ingredient is raw shea butter, so it is definitely a salve and not an ointment. You may need to work it around in your hands for 3 seconds to melt it a bit so that its easier to rub on sore skin. Smell is pleasant, I can primarily smell the tea tree coming through. It is not greasy at all, which is the case of another popular ointment I have tried. And it doesn't leave the sticky goo feeling like something that is petroleum based. As an added benefit that I wasn't expecting - the healing power! After my last session, I ended up with a nasty scar that was not healing or budging at all. See the top photo in the photo I am attaching. After just 48 hours of Tattoo Skin Silk, the scar reduced to the bottom photo. I wasn't expecting this at all as that part of my piece isn't what was just done, but was from over a month ago. I was inadvertently applying it to the green scar area as you can see in the bottom photo there is some new yellow shading nearby. Big fan here - will continue to purchase as I run out for future tattoos and will buy as gifts to my fellow inked friends!! ... show more

  • fast healing, non-greasy - JUST BUY THIS
I found this product after being disappointed with the greasiness and gooeyness of SO many "recommended" tattoo ointments. You know how they give you that sheet at the tattoo shop with recommendations? Well they should all have this product on it. I can't even pronounce the weird s*** that Lubriderm lists in it's ingrediants. All the methyls and "byns" I've ever heard of. Awful chemical stuff! Nothing has ever worked as well as this stuff to keep the tattoo completely moisturized for hours, without "saturating" it. My tattoo healed beautifully. Reduced itching and dryness immediately. I usually have reactions to the red colors in my tattoos, but during this healing process I did not. Could be attributed to how well this product hydrates you skin. I used this on a full-color tattoo (no black outlines/watercolor style) so that it would keep the color from scabbing off and heal as perfect as possible! Smells really great, and also I like that it never left greasy stains on my clothing. I wore under a lot of my cotton work cardigans, and it never "leaked" through the fabric. Great product! I will be recommending to all my tattoo'd friends. My only constructive criticism is that (assuming) most people buy this product because it's natural, it's a little weird to have to microwave it to get it to soften since it naturally hardens at room temp. I don't own a microwave, and doubt it would work with a double broiler, so that was a little weird. So I just used it straight out of the container even though it was not smooth. It was more of like a chapstick consistency, and it just took longer to rub in. Also, the lid didn't close securely for me, so it just kind of sits on itself. It never spilled or gooped up anything, but it would be better if the lid snapped shut. ... show more

  • Love it!
The consistency is like a wax substance and it is temperature sensitive. Think of it like coconut oil (it melts when hot and stays firm when cool). Although this product does not melt as fast as coconut oil, it is easy to put on. If not, I take a lighter and hover it over the top quickly and it gets soft. This is by far one of my favorite products for tattoo healing. It will moisturized for hours and still leave your skin feeling soft. It does not stick to clothes unlike ointment which is a plus. When you put it on, it is not too thick like ointment, but not thin enough to be greasy. After looking at all the ingredients on this product, I see why it's so good with moisturizing my tattoo/skin. The best part is it is all natural! Would recommend for all tattoo lovers ... show more

  • No Wa!
This product along with the other Tattoo Serum I purchased from this shop, infected my tattoo so bad. I do not believe that this item is manufactured in a sterile environment. This was my 9th tattoo, and I have now had 6 tattoos from this same artist - she has extremely sterile habits. The entire chest tattoo was infected, not just spots of it. This tattoo is about 15 inches by 9 inches and the entire tattoo was infected. I had to make two trips to the emergency room and take 3 different antibiotics. Now I will have to get the tattoo touched up in a few months after the skin finishes healing, it still hurts after six weeks. ... show more

  • 10 STARS!
Wonderful product, best out there ! I have tried many products. It's healing, hydrating, non greasy , lil goes a long way.. dosent get all over ur clothes. Perfect for new healing tattoos, or your old ones.. Loved that it's vegan , all natural, and made in the USA. It instantly made my ink pop.. Although, I personally have a hard time getting past the smell. That's just me.. I don't like the smell of tea tree oil.. it's not too overwhelming.. so please don't be discourged. It's a highly beneficial oil.. other than that it's a 10 star product ! So, if u like the smell of a Lil tea tree oil, your going to love this ! It beats some of the top rated / popular items on the market. Go vegan, natural and it's also rewarding to support small businesses. . I'm telling my artist about this product. They definitely need it in there shop. Used to finish a tattoo that was healing. It took the itch and etc. Away.. WOW ! That's really all I can say.. sometimes mother nature ( as u can read in the ingredients ) is the best way to go.. thxs for making such an incredible product.. ps. I also use for hands , body wherever I need extra TLC. . ... show more

  • Best I’ve tried and I’ve tried a bunch.
It’s not the product’s fault; when it was delivered and I opened the top it was liquified which spilt nearly 1/3 of the oil (obviously from a hot Amazon delivery vehicle). Once at room temp this stuff is amazing. I’ve tried other products (Hustle Butter and others) but this has helped to heal fresh ink better than any I’ve tried. The scent is nice, kind of a tea tree oil smell. It’s a small amount but honestly not much is needed even on a full arm sleeve. Recommend it highly and I’ll be ordering more. ... show more

  • Great product
I have a tatto that scabbed horribly and healed needing a lot of touch up work. Part of the tattoo was taking so long to heal that she couldn't even touch it up a month later. I had been using plain lotion and vitamin e oil but it just wasn't working. I have been using Tattoo Skin Silk for a week and it has made a huge difference. It already feels ready to get touched up. I highly recommend this product. ... show more

  • Heals quickly
This is a nice balm for not just tattoos but I bet other topical needs. I tried using it on an older tattoo with no effect unlike promised. However, the new one is doing wonderfully. It is healing quickly. That said it has ruined a couple of my shirts bc it may not stick to your clothes but it does run off onto them. I'm still using it bc it's working. The smell is kind of essential oil smelling, which I do like, and I'm used to it, someone else complained about the scent, but it's not that strong. I will continue to use this. Update: healed completely in 10 days. ... show more
