Purchased in JAN2020 and went through the learning curve of how to set it and to manually run it. Your best option in JAN2022 is now the LCD version, which is more intuitive with blinking icons, rather than a single blinking light. Aside from that, the pump lasted nearly 2 years, while running every two hours. I have pumps on cat Drink Well Water Fountains that have never died, but their pumping mechanism is quite different, so I think 2 years for this pump is good. The screen and everything works; just the actual pumping mechanism has failed. My only clue was my dry, dying plants after I was away for two weeks. Nothing ever fails until you're not there too watch it. LOL I think Splant has provided a great product AND it's obvious that they paid attention to customer reviews because they now produce an LCD version. In electronics terms, an LCD is more complex and thus risks more possible points of failures because of the additional screen indicators versus the simple, single LED light as an indicator. However I think it offers more reassurance to plant owners right out of the box because you should see things like days, hours, minutes and seconds indicated on the screen so that there is no doubt that you nailed the settings and won't kill your plants. On this version, to MANUALLY START THE PUMP, after you've set the timers, simply push the center button again, while the screens/timers are still lit. In other words, one push to Power On and a second push to MANUALLY START THE PUMP. We'll see if the LCD version is similar or if they have a more intuitive manual start method.

Bottom line, this pump works (I go the upgraded high power version, in use for 2 weeks now)... but some things you should know (read the important point *below*). My goal is to have this pump water my outdoor carnivorous plants (I choose to use distilled water), and I want the pump to run 1 time a day sometime when the sun is set, for as long as it needs to for the plants to have enough water flushed through the pot and in the water tray. If you get this pump, you'll need to play with it until you can set it and forget it. Here's what I've found setting it up: - The ' T ' and ' + ' splitters that are used to split the tube will fit tightly into the tube. I guess it's good that it's tight so water doesn't leak out, but be prepared to put some effort into fitting the splitters on. - The tube and the splitters aren't very heavy, so they don't sink to the bottom of the water jugs as I was hoping they would. Might want to look at finding a way to "weigh" the tube down. The not-really-amazing timing system of this pump: I think they got the message: this thing requires some extra instructions for setting it up. Instructions and youtube videos are clear *enough* where I was able to figure out the time system. Included instructions are decent. Here's what they DON'T tell you: - After you are done configuring the pump (how frequent and how long, aka the left and right screens), you need to click the manual button in the middle. Once you push this button, the pump runs *and ALSO* the timer begins. For example, let's say it's 8:00am and you configure the pump for a frequency of 1 day (left box) and a duration of 5 min (right box), after doing this, push the middle (manual) button and pump begins to run for 5 min. NOW... tomorrow at (about) 8:00am the pump will run again for 5 minutes. --- TLDR: Manually run the pump *at the time* you want the pump to run at its frequency. You want 8am each day? Then manually run it at 8am for the first time. - THIS IS IMPORTANT. This pump cannot store clock info / cannot tell time that I'm aware, and the frequency timer is not very accurate. If you set it to 1 day, it will run about every 25 hours (not 24 like how one would expect). While this pump WILL get the job done, the timer is the biggest negative. - DO THIS: play with that left box (the frequency box, aka: 1 day, every 12 hours, etc) until you're happy. I ended up changing my pump from 1 day > 23 hours. After doing this, I can now say the pump runs every 23 hrs and 51 minutes! Just a few fries short of a happy meal, but it's close enough where I'm fine. PERHAPS UNIMPORTANT INFO - I'm not using batteries, only USB power (standard apple charger, 5v 1a)... now that I think of it, I probably should put in 4x lithium AA batteries just to keep that precious delicate timer mostly accurate incase the power goes out... Yes it does remember it's configuration even when the power goes out, but that doesn't mean the timer won't be way way off than how it already is!! The picture I took... - I put the pump is in it's own plastic bin in a cabinet (I drilled holes in the plastic bin for the water lines and power). I chose to write "IN" and "OUT" on the pump itself, but the pump has them labeled anyways. It makes me feel better; don't judge. - I have 2x 2.5 Gallon distilled water containers. The pump is sitting higher than the jugs, but the 6 plants are about 1 foot above the pump, each plant with a dropper thingy. I don't have issues with siphoning. Water output/performance is good.

The media could not be loaded. I have some plants that need to come inside when it gets cold along with herbs I want to keep year round, but I also decided to try getting cuttings of our tomato plants to root and bring in our potted garden plants to save time and money for next year! We live in an old house with a creepy unfinished basement and own some very nosey cats. I bought this along with a large plant light and set them on timers. It's been 2 weeks now, and I actually have some flowers coming in on my borage! I have it set to water for 8 minutes every 2 days, which seems good for them right now. I keep buckets filled in the basement so I can just switch them out when one gets close to empty. It's saving me money so I don't buy new plants/seeds next year and will give us a major head start!

The device was easy to set up after reading the instructions carefully. I did a flow test as suggested by other reviewers, but putting the stakes in the dirt changed the flow so I had to increase the time significantly. I ran it for a week with no apparent issues other than the fact that out of the box the device would not work on batteries, and had to be plugged into the wall via the USB port. My plants barely made it out of my 2 week vaca alive. At first I assumed I didn't give them enough extra time, but the first time I witnessed it run after getting home I was able to see what happened. Apparently some time during vacation it also started failing when plugged into the wall, so it only runs for about 60 seconds then dies. It resets itself, the green light comes back on, and it does its next scheduled run, but never delivers the full amount of water. Changing the settings did not fix or change the behavior at all. Super disappointed at the shoddy quality. The unit is now in the garbage. I suggest you try a different brand.

I bought used like new, new box. It came missing pieces and the hose all cut up. I don’t have a filter so hopefully that doesn’t become an issue. It works great and is easy to use.
