You have to diassemble it to replace the battery, but it's easy to do.

It's got a major flaw, but I'm giving it 5-stars anyway, because it meets all of my unusual requirements. I wanted an opener that can control three different units, all from different companies. 1. A modern Chamberlain/LiftMaster garage door opener. 2. A modern Genie garage door opener. 3. Legacy Linear Multicode shared gate. This requires the use of the DIP switches. All of them are working, and with good range. I'd been using a KLIK1U + Genie remote, but that's two remotes I had to deal with. This one remote does it all! I'm a bit surprised to read some negative reviews complaining that only one legacy device requiring DIP switches can be controlled. Duh! There is only one set of DIP switches. I'm not aware of ANY multi-button remotes with multiple sets of DIP switches. There's almost nothing to the device. Besides 4 buttons, DIP switches, battery holder, and RF section, one custom chip performs all of the magic. I searched for info on the chip, but found nothing. Photo attached. Finally, the flaw some of the other reviewers have also pointed out: There's no way to replace the battery through the access door. It's almost comical how this flaw got past the design, QA, and even the marketing team! However, as I wrote above, there isn't much to the device. Just unscrew the two screws in the back and the whole thing comes apart with ease. There isn't even a tab holding it together. With the circuit board out, it's easy to swap the battery. ... show more

Directions are clear but not always right for Sears/Chamberlain. Other than that...

In the end it does what it's supposed to do. I have 2 Genies and a Sears to program. The Genies went very easy. The Sears was a fight. It clearly has a yellow program button but the code for the yellow button didn't work. I finally read a review where the customer just started trying ever possible code and got it working. That was what finally worked for me. The other problem is a design issue. The buttons are too easy to push and that makes it easy to open the wrong door while you're trying to get to the right button. Not a big deal but annoying. ... show more

Great Product. As advertised it’s compatible with most every kind of garage door type. Programmable for 3 different doors, of any type. All 3 can be different models. It does not feel or look cheap. However I pulled a stupid and did not read it all. 17 presses does not mean hit it 17 times fast. It means slow and steady. You need to see 17 flashes of red light. Easier than I thought

I needed a remote that would work my garage door (Chamberlain belt drive) and my friend's garage (Genie 7055). To me, programming garage door remotes is daunting - for my particular issue, there is very little information out there that spells it out in no uncertain terms. This was the only remote I could find that seemed to be truly universal, as most remotes that I can find will either work with Chamberlain or Genie, but not both. The cons first: The remote does not seem very sturdy - it is very lightweight. The clip rattles and wiggles and doesn't feel like it fits securely, although I would not be able to remove it easily and I think it would actually take good effort to get it off again. Also, the instructions are... quite hard to follow. The directions are separated by garage door type, but they are also split into parts with no indication of which parts are supposed to go to which section. That is my only REAL complaint. There is a video on this page that shows someone programming the remote that helped me figure out the instructions. The pros, and the reason I give it 5 stars and not 4: If you know which type of garage door opener you have and manage to find the sections in the instructions that apply to you - this thing is INSANELY easy to program. I spent more time trying to find the darn learn button than I did actually programming the remote. This took a task I was OVERWHELMED with trying to figure out and made it a 5 minute project (total, between both houses). I spent three days trying to research my stupid garage door openers (neither are new and one is very difficult to access. I can't possibly be the only one with this problem). ... show more

Will not program more then one dip switch unit.

The unit was easy to program and get working, but the the info is misleading. I have 2 Genie garage door openers that are both 12 pin dip switch units. After much frustration, it became clear that this unit will only program one dip switch unit. It is not capable of programming2 or more. Now if you have 2 or more completely different openers, it will probably work for you. But if you have 2 or more of the same dip switch units, it wont work for you. ... show more
