My expectations for this garage door opener sank when I saw that the support address was a 163.com address (similar to gmail in China). But in the end, the garage door opener worked perfectly, and programming was not as painful as I feared. The instructions were reasonably clear, though a little intimidating due to the large number of options and multiple steps. They were printed in such small text that I could not read them. I had to scan the sheet and look at it on my computer. The compatibility list is a bit confusing and somewhat inaccurate. For example, most people have no idea if their garage door opener operates on 315 MHz or 390 MHz. My garage door was installed in 2001, but it ended up working with "Intellicode 2005-Current 390MHz" option. You have to be willing to try a few options if there is no perfect match or if your first guess turns out to be wrong. Fortunately, once you get the hang of it, trying a new option is quite easy and fast. For DIP switch programming, the most important advice is: If it does not work, swap the state of all the switches. For many older openers, there is no indication which switch position is "open" and which is "closed." Any guess you make about which position is which will be just that, a guess. If it does not work, you need to try the other way. Summing up my experience, it took me 15 minutes to program the 3 buttons with an ancient gate (dip switch), an old (2001) Intellicode garage opener and a recent LiftMaster garage opener. I ended up ordering a second one so I could program it while I still remembered how and keep it as a backup. The bottom line is that when it comes to dip switch programmable remotes, there are very few options on the market. If you are willing and able to put in the effort to program, this is a very good workable solution. A copy of the programming instructions is attached.

The initial installation is a little bit complicated. I struggled because even though I have two garage door openers of the same brand, the program button didn’t work as described in the instruction manual. However, after what felt like haphazard button, pushing, I got it programmed correctly. Once I got over that bump in the road, I really like the fact that I could use it with multiple brands of garage door. I have a linear at my house in Chamberlain at my mom‘s. And I have different buttons set up for different brands. I found this unit to be reliable and sturdy. So much so that I bought a second one for my second car.

These work great, but you have to read the instructions. Different garage door openers operate on different frequencies and use different codes, so you need to set the transmitter to match the type of communication you want to emulate. The nice thing is, my dad has both a Wayne Dalton and a Linear opener, and I was able to program separate buttons for each brand on these remotes.

It does work, programming is not as simple but okay. However, the signal strength it puts out is very low, even with a brand-new battery. 4 out of 5 times I have to push the button over and over to get the garage to open or close, even if I am standing right in front of it. Other openers open the same door from 50+ feet away with no problem.

I needed a remote that would work my garage door (Chamberlain belt drive) and my friend's garage (Genie 7055). To me, programming garage door remotes is daunting - for my particular issue, there is very little information out there that spells it out in no uncertain terms. This was the only remote I could find that seemed to be truly universal, as most remotes that I can find will either work with Chamberlain or Genie, but not both. The cons first: The remote does not seem very sturdy - it is very lightweight. The clip rattles and wiggles and doesn't feel like it fits securely, although I would not be able to remove it easily and I think it would actually take good effort to get it off again. Also, the instructions are... quite hard to follow. The directions are separated by garage door type, but they are also split into parts with no indication of which parts are supposed to go to which section. That is my only REAL complaint. There is a video on this page that shows someone programming the remote that helped me figure out the instructions. The pros, and the reason I give it 5 stars and not 4: If you know which type of garage door opener you have and manage to find the sections in the instructions that apply to you - this thing is INSANELY easy to program. I spent more time trying to find the darn learn button than I did actually programming the remote. This took a task I was OVERWHELMED with trying to figure out and made it a 5 minute project (total, between both houses). I spent three days trying to research my stupid garage door openers (neither are new and one is very difficult to access. I can't possibly be the only one with this problem).

Item was fairly easy to set up. However, it will only open the garage door. You oress the button to open it and the door goes up without a hitch. Once the door has opened fully, the remote will not tell the garage door opener to close the door. I have to use the wall mount switch if I want the dor to come back down.
