I have two of these now. They work perfectly and I programmed both in about 30 seconds-very easy. The manufacturer of my opener wanted near a $100 for a replacement remote. This is an excellent choice for the money.

I have a old(1998 remote date) gate opener & a newer garage liftmaster door opener(2005 remote date). The gate remote uses a dip switch style & the garage door remote a learn button. This remote worked perfectly for both! It was a little tricky figuring out the right gate code for the right frequency(mine was 8 button clicks), but I just sat near the gate & tried them all, until it worked. This saved me $100 over getting a garage door opener guy come over to sell me one of his remotes & program it for both the gate & garage door. The only downside is it can only control 1 dip switch style remote controller, the other 2 buttons have to be for openers with learn buttons on openers/units.

The initial installation is a little bit complicated. I struggled because even though I have two garage door openers of the same brand, the program button didn’t work as described in the instruction manual. However, after what felt like haphazard button, pushing, I got it programmed correctly. Once I got over that bump in the road, I really like the fact that I could use it with multiple brands of garage door. I have a linear at my house in Chamberlain at my mom‘s. And I have different buttons set up for different brands. I found this unit to be reliable and sturdy. So much so that I bought a second one for my second car.

My expectations for this garage door opener sank when I saw that the support address was a 163.com address (similar to gmail in China). But in the end, the garage door opener worked perfectly, and programming was not as painful as I feared. The instructions were reasonably clear, though a little intimidating due to the large number of options and multiple steps. They were printed in such small text that I could not read them. I had to scan the sheet and look at it on my computer. The compatibility list is a bit confusing and somewhat inaccurate. For example, most people have no idea if their garage door opener operates on 315 MHz or 390 MHz. My garage door was installed in 2001, but it ended up working with "Intellicode 2005-Current 390MHz" option. You have to be willing to try a few options if there is no perfect match or if your first guess turns out to be wrong. Fortunately, once you get the hang of it, trying a new option is quite easy and fast. For DIP switch programming, the most important advice is: If it does not work, swap the state of all the switches. For many older openers, there is no indication which switch position is "open" and which is "closed." Any guess you make about which position is which will be just that, a guess. If it does not work, you need to try the other way. Summing up my experience, it took me 15 minutes to program the 3 buttons with an ancient gate (dip switch), an old (2001) Intellicode garage opener and a recent LiftMaster garage opener. I ended up ordering a second one so I could program it while I still remembered how and keep it as a backup. The bottom line is that when it comes to dip switch programmable remotes, there are very few options on the market. If you are willing and able to put in the effort to program, this is a very good workable solution. A copy of the programming instructions is attached.

Solved a problem that had existed for along time. My Chamberlain screw drive with purple Learn Button would not program to an original Chamberlain hand held opener. Just got a new car and needed to program Homelink. Got another handheld that parird to the opener but would not pair to the car Homelink. This Universal came today; already had read all the directions; activated, pressed the #2 door button three times (Chamberlain purple learner button). Pressed save. paired with motor learn button (immediate connection). Then went to the car and it immediately paired wupith the HomeLink. Great experience solving a very frustrating problem.

In the end it does what it's supposed to do. I have 2 Genies and a Sears to program. The Genies went very easy. The Sears was a fight. It clearly has a yellow program button but the code for the yellow button didn't work. I finally read a review where the customer just started trying ever possible code and got it working. That was what finally worked for me. The other problem is a design issue. The buttons are too easy to push and that makes it easy to open the wrong door while you're trying to get to the right button. Not a big deal but annoying.
