The media could not be loaded. This Ball Head is 2" tall over all. Ball Head top plate is 1" wide made of plastic. the main part of the Ball Head appears to be aluminum (no magnetic properties noted). The ball is metal. Not the smoothest feeling ball, but it works. I use this for a 1.5 lb trail camera. Definitely would be just fine for small action camera. 1/4 thread for base and top plate. Just make sure you lock down the Ball Head prior to securing it to whatever type of tripod/monopod you are going to use or you won't be able to tighten it down. Works for me ... show more

I had two tripods with 1/4-20 threaded studs (standard camera) that I wanted to use with my game cameras. A pair of these adapters did the trick and made it a lot easier to set up my game cameras in the yard. The ball and socket feature makes final adjustments in aiming the camera a snap.

    • This thing is awesome!
I used these ball mounts to mount GoPro cameras on my dash and roof before starting a crash up derby during rush hour traffic one morning. They held the cameras flawlessly and I got excellent footage of my escapade and subsequent escape.

The one I received had tiny scratches and small dents- not really noticeable or affect the way it works, but was expecting it to look brand new. Other than that, it does the job. so a good product.

    • Cheap and barely functional
Cheaply made, doesn't hold position. Do not buy this if you expect smooth adjustment and the ability to hold in a specific position. I bought this for photography and this ball mount was so frustrating I removed them after 5 minutes.

This product works exactly as I wanted it to and it literally costs a fraction of the price of a brand name item. They also sent me two of them which I wasn’t expecting.
