I bought this one to replace a bigger one that broke. Wish it was a bit bigger but love the packaging that allows me to keep it in the box when not in use and protected. Very good retainer of heat and makes perfect crust pizza at home. Does need a temperature of at least 500 Fahrenheit to crust the pizza but that’s no problem for my oven. Best to use with parchment paper because stuff burns onto the stone and can stink up the house. Highly recommend this stone but wish it was a bit cheaper which is why I gave it 4/5 stars. ... show more

  • Makes for even heat and good bottom heat in the oven
Although we do make pizza, we usually use a round pizza stone for our pizza. I bought this stone for baking bread. I make a sourdough French bread with a nice crust. Like many newer ranges, my current range lacks an exposed lower element. That means that the heat tends to come from the top more than the bottom and things tend to bake more on the top. I have solved that by putting this stone on my oven rack and starting the oven about an hour before the loaves will go into the oven. By the time the loaves are fully risen the stone has stored plenty of heat and my loaves bake with a good crust all the way around, not just on top. Similarly, I use the stone when I am baking pies so the bottom crust bakes properly and there is never a soggy crust. I also used it when making a cake a few days ago so that the cake would bake more evenly--success! I like this so much I am buying another for my sister, another avid baker. She has been unhappy with her new oven and I think that this will bring back the joy of her baking again. I would recommend this to any baker who expects perfect baking. ... show more

Our family loves pizza cooked on the bbq & the large round stone we had would only do 1 at a time. This stone covers almost all the grill area (Weber 3 burner) & now we can do 2 pizzas at the same time.

  • It's so big...
Did I need a pizza stone this big? No. Is it really heavy? Yes. It's it incredibly inconvenient to move around when not needed? Also yes. But... I can't take stars away for that... I just don't need one this big but it's definitely a great quality stone. I accidentally left a stick of butter on it (still in the wrapper) while pre heating and set every smoke detected off. Even my Neighbor asked what the smell was. So I let it air out and it already soaked up all the butter. Crazy. ... show more

  • Extra large pizza stone great for bread
I bought this stone primarily to bake bread and baguettes. Perfect size to hold 3 or possibly 4 baguettes. It is very heavy duty and looks nice.
