  • I love this! Only one flaw
I got this because I didn't want to use a ball head. A little more restrictive but the balancing is easier for my needs. I have this mounted to a monopod and I have uninstalled the tilt/pan arm. Ok so the only downside I can see right now is that there could be a little more modulation in accordance to how tight you have the screws. In other words, when you tighten the pan, for instance, you can only loosen or tighten it so much before it either locks or loosens completely. Otherwise this is a great choice, better than budget. It works really well and the included Allen wrench is a nice addition. The Allen wrench is used to mount the plate onto your camera and if you need to change something out, it's there. It is magnetized to a part of the videohead. It's a bit small but you could have it no other way if you're looking for something compact. ... show more

  • Beautifully Metal, and fairly smooth for video
I'm reviewing this from the perspective of a videographer, where fluid motion is more important. Usually cheap/portable heads aren't smooth or are geared for "set it and forget it" pan and tilt adjustment for photography, that doesn't require motion. This is surprisingly smooth for a compact head and you should be able to pull off any pan and tilt provided you're not attaching a bazooka 70-200 lens with this tiny plate holding your DSLR. Keep in mind there's separate locks for Pan, Tilt, AND Ball...don't confuse the ball joint for the pan and tilt mechanisms. The ball joint feels grainy when moving it, but do not fret, that's merely for leveling the tripod on uneven ground and is supposed to remain locked and is not meant for camera movement. The actual joints for pan and tilt work just fine and you can even get those smooth lean in dolly shots you get with a monopod. The adjustment locks will need minor attention, as you'll have to find the goldilocks zone of friction as another reviewer stated, but nothing terribly troublesome. My only complaint is that the f38 baseplate is somewhat obscure and WILL NOT FIT ARCA SWISS MOUNTS...WHY ?? I'd hate to load up and switch on those baseplates in an arca swiss world. It literally is the same shape of Arca mounts but a mere millimeter or so shorter. UGH...And the plate provided has just ONE SCREW, not a DOUBLE SCREW like pro plates have, so you're going to have to wrestle the plate twisting crooked over long term use. Minus a star on the plate alone LOL. ... show more

  • Great head
Recently moved from arca to falcam. Falcam is very secure. This works great on top of a tripod or a slider. Smooth panning and tilting. Very light but feels quality. Plenty of adjustability. Great value if you need a compact, easy to use fluid head for travel.

  • Very pleased! Good value
Nice little video head, very smooth movements. Great performance. I was afraid it wouldn't work with the weight (Canon EOS R + small and medium lenses) but it did well. Not very robust so I don't use it as my main one but very solid as my secondary one.

  • Slick little fluid head.
Works better than some of my bigger more expensive fluid heads. Smooth movement. Holds steady. Just practice getting your camera in and out of it, that does take some getting used to.

  • Great quality
Ulanzi has made a nice and small, but super high quality video fluid head for use on the go. This is perfect for when you need something small but still pro level. For example I attach my fluid head to a monopod, and it works perfectly for when I am shooting with a run and gun setup. It is great for when I am somewhere that I can't use a full tripod but I need that pro stability. Not to mention their quick release system is easy to fall in love with. ... show more

  • A very impressive fluid head for mirrorless cameras
I'm seriously impressed with this fluid head. It's absolutely identical to the one offered by Smallrig at the same price, except for Smallrig's has a telescopic handle grip. Whoever made it, really put a lot of thought into how it was designed. I got this for filming solely with my Sony mirrorless cameras, and if you're using this with a similar set up, then I think you'll be very pleased. It's a tiny fluid head, smaller than I thought (and pleasantly surprised it is), yet despite it's size, it feels very well constructed, has a good solid weight to it without it being heavy, and it's incredibly versatile. It really does have a solid fluid movement to it and all the knuckles work well keeping it in place, or adding a good amount of friction in order to let you have full control over the movement of the camera. I use this on a spare photography tripod. I have much larger Sachtler professional tripods for full size film cameras and they can weigh a tonne for good reason. However, they'e overkill for mirrorless cameras and are also cumbersome when you're on the road. It feels like the manufacturer has acknowledged there's a market for a smaller good quality head for the smaller digital cameras that are flooding the market and about time too. This head easily handled a Sony A9ii with battery grip and a Sony 70-200mm lens mounted. Movement was sure and accurate and you can easily calibrate the friction for what is actually quite a heavy small camera rig. It's packed with useful features such as a spirit level, a pull & twist lock built in to make sure the plate doesn't accidentally release, and even a side screw hole to enable you to add a bracket to mount a monitor or audio receiver. It really is designed very well. A few minor niggles. I wish the tripod plate was not propriety and used a full sized Arcam plate or similar, to save having to swap them out for different tripods. Secondly, the Allen wrench built in to the head is a little redundant. Not only does it not fit any of the Allen bolts on the head, it's also too short to give you much purchase. Another review said it can be used to bolt the plate to the camera, but this is not the case at all. It's designed to tighten other extras like a bracket to the head, but I feel you'd have one anyway for that purpose and would be better if it was small enough to tighten other bolts already on the head..... or just not added at all to save weight. But these are minor niggles. I'm very, very impressed with this fluid head. Love its size, weight, quality engineering and above all its portability without losing much if at all functionality. Highly recommended for anyone needing a fluid head for mirrorless camera shooting. ... show more
