  • Lovely little fan. The Thermal Silicon Pad gets ICE COLD on the camera body.
Style: Cooler with Battery
The media could not be loaded. I've only tested this puppy so far, but I think it will do the trick. Now on one hand, it is a bit louder than I would have liked - in a silent room anyway. But whatever this silicon conductor material is on the back, it sure stays ice cold. I was hoping the main body had some built in battery too and the battery pack was an extender. That is not the case. According to Ulanzi as well, this actually has about the same run time as their original fan that has a built in battery. I suppose the benefit of this is the new fit, as it does fit quite snuggly, and its got more a heatsink type build with this "thermostatic semi-conductive" material. Looking at the upside of the removable battery is, if they are ever in stock, you can just swap out batteries all day, but I guess we will most likely run this from a V-mount battery anyway. ... show more

  • Nikon? Stays on till you take off.
Style: Cooler Only
This is the fan fits and stays on my z30. I have the one before this and had to diy sumething to keep it on the camera. This fits great and stays on the camera even if shake camera repeatedly. It does not fall off. No diying needed.

  • Optional battery power is great. Holds well. Fan is LOUD though.
Style: Cooler with Battery
If you aren't using the battery that comes with it, the fan does need to be powered via the USB-C. I found the fan works, but even at its lowest setting it was louder than some competitor fans. On level 2 it's very audible enough in a quiet environment to be heard over light fans and also the subject being shot. It does keep the camera nice and cool though and extended shooting times on cameras notorious for overheating like the Sony ZV-E10 II and Canon R8 on 4k mode while testing it. The size is nice, but it does get bulky with the battery and juts out a LOT further than other fans of it's like. Fortunately the design is nice and compact and the magnet solution they have is pretty good. It's very easy to install this on the camera as there's a spring tension system, and it functions well. Wish it wasn't so loud though. ... show more

  • IF Your Recording Matters, COOL Your Camera, EVERY TIME!
Style: Cooler with Battery
This ingenious camera cooler from Ulanzi is a welcome addition to my VIDEO RECORDING equipment inventory. The number one KILLER of cameras after RAGE and ACCIDENTAL DROPS is HEAT. Modern cameras have advanced cooling technology that works efficiently to maintain a steady temperature, even during long recording sessions. But when your camera DOES get HOT, and it WILL, the internal safety mechanisms take over and shut your camera, and your recording, DOWN. The rationale is simple, better a failed recording than a fried camera motherboard (and the Daughterboard, too!). The alternative to this unpleasant scenario IS the Ulanzi (THEY spell it this way…NOT in Caps) THERMOSTATIC SEMICONDUCTOR CAMERA COOLER KIT. Consider that for a moment, THERMOSTATIC means “having or maintaining a consistent temperature.” And semiconductor means that an INTELLIGENT IC COB (Chip On Board) is MANAGING the process. And, oh brother, does it WORK AS ADVERTISED! I tested the cooling system with our Nikon ZF camera using an 85 mm f1.8 S lens. A standard setup for mirrorless camera and lens for video recording. We tested in our smaller air conditioned studio space running two banks of SMITH VICTOR continuous tungsten lights (Six in all). These are the HOTTEST lights we have. They are from 1992 and still work perfectly. With 500-watt tungsten bulbs (with 126 hours on the bulbs) we got consistent lumen readings of 8750 lumens of concentrated light. For general comparison spectral DAYLIGHT is 5000 Kelvin or 10,000 to 25,000 lumens/sq. M at the surface of the Earth. The range is attributed to weather and time of day. The point is our lights are BRIGHT and HOT and had absolutely NO effect on the camera or the recording ( we recorded the screen of our 75” monitor with “Who Killed Jessica Rabbit” running on it. We DID add a RODE© microphone to get the total effect recorded). I appreciate how the intelligent auto-control adjusted the cooling based on the camera’s needs. This was helpful as I could focus on WHAT was being captured without worrying about overheating or buffer slowdown. The high-quality build materials and clever design, including the secure SPRING BUCKLE mounting feature and the MAGNETIC EXTERNAL BATTERIES gave me absolute confidence in its performance. In several uses, it has proven to be both durable and consistent in its cooling. What impressed me most is its versatility and ease of use. The adjustable speed settings allow me to tailor the cooling effect to different \conditions, all while keeping noise levels during use low. It fits seamlessly on our ZF camera, offering a reliable and effective way to extend our studio capabilities. Whether working on a professional client project or capturing family moments for personal enjoyment, this cooler has made a noticeable difference in maintaining CAMERA HEALTH and consistently superior performance. This cooler and battery system work exactly as advertised. It has proven to be a workhorse for our admittedly limited pure recording work. We have used it for EVERY recording session since it entered the studio on the 5th of March. TWO THINGS TO BE AWARE OF: The camera cooler works ONLY with CAMERA BODIES THAT HAVE SIDE-FLIPPING REAR VIEWING SCREENS. It fits PERFECTLY on our ZF body, but does NOT fit on our D850 or Z9, BOTH of which we use for recording. I HAVE to assume that any device that works this well WILL get a version TWO that does fit on more camera bodies. I ordered a SPARE battery as I found I could NOT rely on AC availability on LOCATION to power the 5-volt USB-C POWER PORT on the cooler. I successfully ran the CU01 Cooler with a Power Bank, but it was a pain to jury-rig the connection and the magnetic battery is simpler and MUCH more ergonomic. Ulanzi has delivered a WINNER here. I had NO heat-based slowdowns, buffer problems, or camera safety shutdowns while using this new cooling system. And I definitely could NOT say that prior to adding the cooler to the camera body. It is unfortunate that the camera selection is limited to swing-arm rear screens, but our Nikon ZF allowed me to try the cooler and generate this review. As I mentioned earlier, I certainly hope that a second version is in the design workshop because a majority of our pro camera bodies DO NOT have articulating rear screens. This is an AMAZON VINE Review and I need to assign STARS to the product based on my experience with it. I considered docking one star for the limited camera range but my wife reminded me that I am THIS product as I used it. I also was reminded that it took old Henry Ford TWELVE YEARS to make a Model T in a color OTHER than black. Hopefully, Ulanzi will solve the “attachment problem” sooner than Mr. Ford sold Red, Blue, or Green cars. This AMAZON VINE Review is FIVE STARS! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Thanks, AMAZON! • VERY cold active cooling.
Style: Cooler with Battery
The media could not be loaded. The Ulanzi CU01 camera cooler and battery far exceed my expectations. I've used traditional cooling fans for extended recording periods on my Canon R50, which while it has never overheated, starts to run quite hot when recording in extended 4k or 1080p60, especially when outside or near an overhead heating vent indoors in the winter. For the price, I'm not sure how Ulanzi can offer this so inexpensively. It is cheaper than most premium basic fans on the market, BUT, this has ACTIVE cooling. When watching the attached video, you can see even with the unit on mode 1 (of 2), within seconds the temperature of the cooling elements is <40* Fahrenheit. Functionally, this thing is really cold, and functions better than expected. The clip holds the unit tight to the camera, sturdier than some other cooling fans I have used. From a power perspective, it is nice to have a battery which can be attached magnetically when in use on a gimbal, but when being used from a tripod can be powered by a VMount battery via USB-C (or other USB charging source) Build quality is a bit of plastic, with some aluminum/metal pieces where necessary for cooling or rigidity. All in all, very please with this, especially for the price. This would still be a bargain at $80+ in my opinion. It doesn't just blow hot air, it actively cools. ... show more
