Description

The Ugly Stik Elite Spinning Rod delivers the toughness anglers expect, now in a lighter design with increased graphite for enhanced feel. Built with Ugly Tech construction, it balances strength and sensitivity, while Ugly Tuff one- piece stainless-steel guides ensure consistent line flow and eliminate insert failures. The Clear Tip design adds confidence when detecting strikes or handling heavy loads, and premium cork grips provide comfort through long days on the water. Backed by a 10-year warranty, the Elite is crafted to perform season after season. Fishing has gotten too pretty. Unscratched sparkle barges with nuclear-powered engines. Rods that act like skittish thoroughbreds instead of unshod workhorses. Fish pictures taken for ‘likes' instead of refrigerator doors. It's time to fish the way it's meant to be done, with tough, durable tackle built to provide ten whopper fish pics for every one of some dandy holding a fancy rod and a fingerling. It's time to fish ugly.

  • great value for a pretty good rod
Style: Old Model Size: 7' - Medium - 2pc
This is no way a professional rod but for everyday beater and it is TOUGH they are known for durability and accidents to happen and they make a really good product. My wife purchased the gx2 with the foam grips and I love cork so I went with this one and its great. only gripe would be the reel seat and cork had squeaking going onwhen I hooked a fish easy rememdy was some 2 part epoxy and some thread (it was at the bottom of the reel seat and the end cork. fixed the issue very quickly and easily. still I would buy another or another length or size when I feel the need to add to my arsenal of fishing rods. great everyday product! ... show more

  • It's a great rod, compared to other rods
Style: Old Model Size: 7' - Medium - 2pc
It's a great rod, compared to other rods, their action is a little bit more floppy. When picking a medium, it leans a bit towards a medium-light, which is not a bad thing, but just keep that in mind. It is light weight, sensitive, and relatively a lot cheaper when compared to the competitors. I suggest this rod in combination with a 3500-4000 sized reel. I paired mine with a 4000 Daiwa BG: Daiwa BG BG3500 Spinning Reel I had a bit of trouble putting the reel on to the rod itself, the reel seat barely fits the reel foot (I forcefully shoved it in) Maybe get the 3500 or 3000 series Daiwa BG and your problems will be solved. The Daiwa is a great reel and this combo has become my universal rod for salt and freshwater fishing. It is light enough for casting and strong enough for the surf. I recently pulled a 2lb Monkeyfaced prickleback out of a hole with this combo with relative ease. ... show more

  • Good rod for the price
Style: Old Model Size: 7' - Medium - 2pc
This review is for the 7-ft 2-piece medium rod. Although my first outing with this rod wasn’t quite as successful in terms of catch, I will say that I am overall pleased with the rod. I caught a good sized (18-inch) fat catfish with the rod with no problem. The rod feels solid with a good blend of strength and feel as well as comfortable. The rod is not going to match more expensive rods, but for less than 50 bucks, this is a pretty decent quality one for the casual fisherman like me. 4 stars ... show more

  • Good price. Disappointing quality.
Style: Old Model Size: 7' - Medium - 2pc
I have owned several Ugly Stik rods but this version is the worst. Although this rod has given me the excellent fishing experience for the last 2 months, the rod quality is declining rapidly. When I first got this rod, I was able to cast accurately and land several good size trouts and bass, however, the rod is losing its balance and the tip is bent after couple fishing trips. I have 3 Ugly stik rods and I have stored and maintained them in the appropriate condition. Always disassembly rods after the trip and never lean the rods against the wall. Dispite my care, this Ugly Stik Elite is noticeably curved at the tip. I lost my ability to cast accurately once the rod is not in the good shape. I recommend this version of Ugly Stik for the price, however, the quality is really disappointing. ... show more

  • Best Rod hands down
Style: Old Model Size: 7' - Medium - 2pc
Didn't think I would like this rod at first. However....once I put it to action, it caught me more fish than all my other rods I've used. iI is super sensitive to ever nibble and lets you know exactly when the fish is taking the bait to set the hook. I would be hard pressed to let this rod go without a fight. it's that good! ... show more

  • light rod but strong, 40" bull red tested
Style: Old Model Size: 7' - Medium - 2pc
Light rod but strong. We bought the 2 pc medium 7' version. The tip is very sensitive and flexible. The rod itself is pretty light and skinny, if I may use that word. The reel seat is a bit small and a challenge to put a 4000 size reel on it (Daiwa BG) but manageable. The eyelets are of high quality and work with braid lines just fine, unlike some comments mentioning that these stainless steel eyelets are not good with braids. That might be old lines a few years back. The line we used worked fine, from reaction tackle. The rod is light but has pretty good backbone, handling 1 to 2 oz sinkers with baits just fine. My son did a thorough test, by getting his personal best redfish with it, pulling in a 40" bull red just before New Year's day. He fought like 10 mins with the red making multiple runs (~10?). I think both he and the rod had a decent workout. ... show more
