Sturdy practically unbreakable The ugly stick name has been around for a long time. The reel is nice too . Very smooth and cast well I use mine for Fishing for blue catfish and snake head in Maryland. Excellent pier fishing rod And the rod and the real handles heavy braid Fishing line with with ease. The Rod tip is sensitive to detect those septal bites yet Sturdy enough to handle the big ones. Since I now have an extra reel that is identical, I am going to rig it with different pound test line. I love my Shakespeare ugly stik crappie pole combo. I purchased a 9 foot because I do a lot of fishing from the bank. The pole easily cast out very light lurs and quietly dropped baits on unsuspecting fish. The only negative is the reel is not very high quality but it does the job. The pole is very good quality I love the parabolic bend and the sensitivity so it makes you feel like you have a much bigger fish. I posted a picture of my friend Tina. I fish year round, salmon, walleye, etc. I bought 8 of these to equipment my smaller walleye boat. I bought them based on the name brand, the length, action and price. They work very well on 8" panner boards. They are also light enough to feel the walleye one the board comes off. The reels are smooth. They're a low budget combo, but well worth it. My grunty little friend here wants you to know that this fishing rod combo is great. The length is just about right at 6 feet for both shore and boat fishing. The action is responsive and quick, but the strength is where it excels. This picture was taken after lifting this fish and a few of his friends up a 15 foot bank. The reel was amazing, so don't listen to the negative reviews. If you appreciate the feel of a finer reel then you should not be looking at a reasonably priced combo. The drag adjust easy, there is large capacity for line, and the reel lets the line flow off during cast great!. I can reach the middle of the river, and fight a catfish to the bank without having to worry if the rod will snap or reel break off. Great combo, designed to work together.
