  • Great all in one switch with 10G Bach bone.
Style: USW-PRO-24-POE
Love this switch. Plugged it into my network and my unifi controller found it and adopted it right away. Got it all upgraded and it is Rick’s and tiling as intended. The auto sense POE is great i have multiple AP’s and IP phones plugged in and everything came to life with no effort from me. It does weigh more than i thought it would but the POE power adds more to the total. Will be buying more of these switches to utilize the 10G fiber uplinks and run 1 line to remote closets. ... show more

  • A shiny turd of a switch
Style: USW-PRO-24-POE
This switch is very heavy and deep. In fact, it didn't fit my wall rack even with a 90-degree elbow connector. This switch requires you to install software to configure it. The software, called Unifi Controller, was challenging to install on Ubuntu 22.04 and was a mess a bad UX and confusing design. It was only then when I started inspecting the switch that I observed that it was strange that it installed itself as a service so that it ran 100% of the time. The switch requires an Internet connection to setup -- this is strange and alarming. It made me wonder if there could be hidden backdoors. The L3 functionality appears to require other Ubiquity hardware to fully realize on your network. It really is an L2 switch with a few L3 features. The feature list appears to be a roadmap and it's not mature enough at the moment. ... show more

  • The Layer 3 Routing Is Garbage
Style: USW-PRO-24-POE
I work in the high end IT industry and was super excited about this 24 port POE layer three switch. This thing is anything but layer three. Layer 3 refers to routing between subnets. This thing was terrible. If you only have a very simple, flat, single subnet then fine. The software is not mature. Support is via community and there is no way (at least what I found) to call a human. ... show more

  • Very noisy
Style: USW-PRO-24-POE
Ubiquiti claims on the product page for the USW-PRO-24-POE switch that it has "Near-silent cooling". That's highly misleading. The switch is very noisy. With no devices connected, the fan is running at 44% and 4300 RPM with temp at 52 degrees C. As a comparison, my UDM Pro with devices connected is very quiet (fan at 0% and 745 RPM with temp at 50 degrees C). I contacted Ubiquiti tech support thinking that maybe there's something wrong with my particular unit but they are saying it's normal. It's too noisy to have in the room where I'm working so now I'm going to have to put it in the attic or figure out another solution. If you're going to buy this switch, I recommend waiting until it's in stock on Amazon so you'll have the option of returning it without paying a restocking fee. I got mine directly from Ubiquiti and they charge a 15% restocking fee. ... show more
